Earlier this month, I partnered with the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health and the Department of Public Health to celebrate the incredible voices of our local youth at the Reel Reality: Fentanyl Awareness Film Contest.
High school students from across the Fourth District put their creativity to work, producing powerful short films that helped shine a light on the dangers of fentanyl and its devastating impact on our communities.
A huge thank you to the talented students from Chaffey, Chino, Don Lugo, Hillside, Montclair, Upland, and Ontario High Schools—your voices are making a difference, and your films are helping spark life-saving conversations.
The winners included:
- Montclair High School Prevention and Awareness Knowing Why, Fentanyl: Don't Wait for the Silence
- Upland High School It Can Happen to Anyone - Addressing the Stigma Not Just a Statistic
- Upland High School Fentanyl Doesn't Care. But We Do. Ordinary Day

Last month, Hasco Stores in Montclair got a surprise visit from me and my team as we stopped by to recognize a true standout in the Fourth District. Field Representative Ruby Long presented a Certificate of Recognition to Ahmad Alkhatib and his exceptional team on behalf of the Fourth District.
For the past 20 years, Hasco Stores has been a go-to destination for affordable shopping, offering new and overstock items from national distributors and warehouse clubs. But it’s not just the deals that make Hasco special—it’s their consistent commitment to excellent service and strong community values.
We’re proud to name Hasco Stores as a Fourth District Distinguished Business Award recipient. Their contribution to local economic growth, innovation, and community involvement sets a strong example for businesses throughout the region.
Congratulations to Ahmad and the entire Hasco team—here’s to many more years of success!

Last month, I had the honor of attending the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce’s annual Salute to Public Safety at the Chino Hills Community Center. Each year, this event brings our community together to recognize the outstanding service and bravery of the men and women who serve in our fire departments, police forces, and sheriff’s stations.
It was a powerful reminder of the dedication these public safety professionals show every day—often without recognition, and always with unwavering commitment. From emergency calls to community outreach, they continue to show up for all of us, no matter the challenge.
A heartfelt thank you to all our local heroes. Your work does not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do to keep our community safe.
Last month, I had the honor of personally congratulating the 66 newly graduated nurses at Chino Valley Medical Center’s Emergency Department!
After months of hard work, these nurses have completed a rigorous training program that included a critical care course and more than 12 weeks of clinical orientation. Their journey has been one of dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to delivering the highest standard of care to those in need.
These graduates are now fully equipped to serve on the frontlines of emergency care, where every second counts and compassion is just as critical as skill. Their preparation ensures they’re ready to handle the challenges of a fast-paced ER environment with confidence and heart.
I am incredibly grateful for their choice to serve our community and for their passion for putting patients first.
Thank you to each and every one of you for choosing this path and it reminded me how much joy these moments of celebration and community can bring.
Our community is better and stronger because of you!

Last month, I had the pleasure of celebrating with the City of Montclair during their monthly Senior Birthday Celebration. It was a great afternoon—full of smiles, good conversation, and a strong sense of community.
It’s always nice to see our seniors come together to celebrate one another. The energy in the room was light and genuine, and it reminded me how important these simple moments can be.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen. Our seniors deserve the spotlight, and this celebration did just that.

The third installment of Ontario International Airport’s (ONT) annual 5K at the Runway generated nearly $54,000 in support of the USO and its mission to serve military personnel and their families.
This past week, officials from the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA) presented USO representatives a check for $53,773.18 – net proceeds from the popular annual race, which attracted nearly 2,000 runners, walkers and community supporters. The check presentation reaffirmed the airport’s ongoing support of those who serve our country.
Ontario International Airport (ONT) continued its impressive growth streak in March, marking its 49th consecutive month of increased passenger traffic with nearly 560,000 travelers passing through its gates.
The Southern California hub recorded 559,619 passengers last month—a 0.5% increase compared to March 2024. Over the first quarter of 2025, ONT welcomed close to 1.5 million travelers, representing a 0.6% rise over the same period last year.
Josie Gonzales, San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk, Ensen Mason, Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector (ATC), and Jason Anderson, District Attorney are alerting the public to a solicitation involving misleading letters claiming that recipients must pay off liens recorded against them. These letters often appear official and may reference legitimate public records to deceive individuals into sending money to third-party solicitors.
Josie Gonzales, Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk, issued the following warning:
“Third-party solicitors are preying on our residents by sending deceptive letters that misrepresent legitimately recorded liens and demand immediate payment. While liens are a financial or legal obligation, these scam letters are designed to mislead and intimidate recipients into paying third-party companies that pass off as government entities. I urge all our residents to carefully verify any such correspondence before acting.”
