Winter Storm Warning in effect
 Moderate to heavy rain and mountain snow are expected through Friday.
Heavy rain and measurable snowfall are expected in San Bernardino County today, March 6, and perhaps tomorrow, with more on the way next week. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and stated today’s storm poses a threat to those living downstream of the areas burned by September’s Line and Bridge wildfires.

 The San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services, in partnership with San Bernardino County Fire, recently held a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training session in Hesperia.

Farms in the county test positive for H5N1
 H5N1 has been detected in four dairy farms in San Bernardino County.
H5N1 – bird flu – has been detected in four dairy farms in San Bernardino County. The risk of infection from H5N1 remains relatively low. No person-to-person spread of bird flu has been detected in California.
San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs offers services in Barstow and Morongo Basin
 Veterans in Barstow and surrounding communities now have an opportunity to meet with a Veteran Service Officer every month.
The San Bernardino County Departments of Veterans Affairs and Aging and Adult Services-Public Guardian have partnered to bring vital veteran services to Barstow. As of Feb. 20, veterans in Barstow and surrounding communities now have an opportunity to meet with a Veteran Service Officer for assistance with veterans benefits and disability claims the third Thursday of every month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Aging and Adult Services Barstow site.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has announced it is replacing My HealtheVet and the Department of Defense (DS) login services with Login.gov and ID.me to access benefits on their website and mobile applications.
WDB Rapid Response and Kohl’s: A model for effective workforce transitions
 Over 300 San Bernardino Kohl’s Distribution Center associates attended an on-site employment resources event held Feb. 26 organized with assistance from the San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board’s Rapid Response team.
Since 2010, the San Bernardino Kohl’s E-commerce Distribution Center has moved millions of Kohl’s orders throughout the region. Over the years, the center became more than just a workplace—it was a hub where many people built careers, friendships and a strong culture of support and growth.

San Bernardino County Museum welcomes new curator of art and exhibits
After an extensive search, the San Bernardino County Museum is thrilled to announce Casey Lee, Ph.D. as the new curator of art and exhibits.
“With her impressive scholarly background and extensive museum experience, Casey is a perfect addition to our talented curatorial team,” said Museum Director David Myers. “Her leadership will be invaluable as we explore opportunities to showcase artwork from our own remarkable collection. The creation of this new role underscores the museum’s commitment to expanding our art collection, enhancing programming, and deepening educational offerings for the benefit of our entire county.”

Lee earned her bachelor’s degree in art history and administrative studies from UC Riverside and her doctorate in art history from Queen’s University, Kingston, with a dissertation on the collecting practices of seventeenth-century Dutch artists.
San Bernardino County destinations: Mojave National Preserve

The Mojave National Preserve, near Baker, is full of interesting sites to see including the Kelso Dunes, Hole-in-the-Wall Rings Trail, Mitchell Caverns and a natural cave made of lava that cooled over 1,000 years ago.
Other attractions include the Teutonia Peak Trail and the Mojave National Preserve’s Joshua Tree Forest. Visitors can also go hiking, biking, camping, horseback riding and more. Be sure to check it out!
