Here's a quick roundup from today's (02/25/2025) San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meeting:
Fourth District Highlights:
Item No. 3 - The Board approved the appointment of Delinia M. Lewis to Seat 15 on the Behavioral Health Commission for a 3-year term.
Item No. 20 - The Board of Supervisors approved a one-time $250,000 allocation in the Economic Development Department’s 2024-25 budget for projects at Ontario International Airport. This funding will go to the Ontario International Airport Authority to support the installation of security cameras and electronic access control devices on jet bridges. With this addition, the total funding for the project increases from $250,000 to $500,000.
Item No. 23 - The Board of Supervisors approved the Interagency Council on Homelessness recommended Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention funding, including $153,929 to the City of Montclair for rapid rehousing and street outreach, with approximately 31 individuals being served.
Item No. 30 - The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an agreement with the cities of Ontario and Chino to form the Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire, a new agency that will provide both animal control and shelter services for the region. This partnership is an important step toward ensuring that our communities have access to high-quality, cost-effective animal care services.
Countywide Highlights:
Item No. 2 - The Board approved the adoption and presentation of a resolution honoring Julie Waite for her 36 years of dedicated service to San Bernardino County upon her retirement. Additionally, the Board adopted and presented a resolution recognizing Stan Waite for his 25 years of valuable service, Jesus Herrera for his 33 years of dedicated service, and Carol Ragsdale for her 28 years of committed service to San Bernardino County upon their retirements.
Item No. 4 - The Board authorized the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector to adjust the 2024-25 budget by $862,176. This additional federal funding from the California Department of Aging supports the Access to Technology Program, which provides digital connectivity and technology access to adults aged 60 and older and individuals with disabilities.
Item No. 48 - The Board approved the proposed response to the 2024 Grand Jury report, which addressed findings related to the 2023 winter storms. The county had already taken action on six out of nine grand jury recommendations before the final report was published. These efforts focused on equipment, public communication, and training, including:
- Purchasing over 30 new pieces of heavy machinery, including loaders and blowers.
- Establishing a county emergency response public information system.
- Providing training programs and exercises for county leaders and emergency responders.
- Reviewing and updating existing emergency operation plans.
At the time of the report’s release, the county was still working on the last three recommendations:
- Reestablishing the San Bernardino County Disaster Council.
- Updating the County Emergency Operations Plan.
- Reviewing agreements for resources that would be needed for future emergencies.
 The Board of Supervisors meetings are open for public participation. Public access to the San Bernardino County Government Center is through the west doors, facing Arrowhead Avenue. All members of the public entering the building are required to go through a security scan and then sent directly to the chambers.
