I was honored to participate in the Topping Out Ceremony for the Valley Communications Center! This milestone marked the completion of phase one of construction as the final beam, signed by everyone involved, was ceremoniously placed into position.
The event was a moment of pride and excitement, celebrating the hard work and dedication that brought the project to this point. Seeing the names and messages written on the beam served as a powerful reminder of the collaboration behind this achievement.
This new facility promises to bring significant advancements for San Bernardino County, enhancing our ability to serve and support the community. With phase one now complete, the progress ahead is even more exciting, paving the way for a state-of-the-art center that will benefit us all.
It was a privilege to be part of this important milestone and to witness firsthand the future of innovation and service taking shape in our community.
Earlier this month, I had the honor of joining the San Bernardino County Children and Family Services Department to celebrate the finalization of adoptions of over 100 families. It was truly a special occasion, marking a life-changing milestone for each family present.
The room was filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt emotions as families came together to commemorate this significant step. Adoption is much more than a legal process - it's about creating unbreakable bonds, offering a sense of belonging, and providing children with the love, security, and support they deserve.
Seeing the smiles on faces of both children and parents was a powerful reminder of the incredible impact of adoption. Each family's journey was unique, but the shared sense of love and commitment was unmistakable.
Congratulations to all the families who finalized their adoptions. I wish you nothing but the best as you embark on this beautiful journey together. It was a privilege to witness such a meaningful celebration of family and connection.
Recently, I had the privilege of presenting 48 two-way radios to Melanie Orosco, San Bernardino County Librarian, and her dedicated team serving the libraries in Chino Hills, Chino Preserve, Chino, and Montclair.
These radios were a valuable addition, designed to enhance staff coordination across the Fourth District libraries. By streamlining communication, they promised to make library events more seamless and efficient, empowering the hardworking employees who bring these spaces to life.
It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm of the library team as they received the radios. Their dedication to creating welcoming and vibrant spaces for our community was evident, and I was proud to support their efforts.
These tools will not only benefit library staff but also strengthen the libraries' role as a cornerstone of our community - a place where people come together to live, work, and play. It was a reminder of how small improvements can have a big impact on fostering community connections and enriching lives.
From November 4 to November 11, 2024, my District Office was lit up in green to honor the courage and sacrifices of our veterans.
Operation Green Light is a nationwide initiative led by the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, with over 300 counties participating this last year. This campaign not only recognizes our veterans but also shines a light on the unique challenges they face as they transition back to civilian life.
Our green lights are a symbol of gratitude and a call to action, reminding us of the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to support those who served.
By lighting up green, we showed our gratitude and reminded our community that our veterans' service will never be forgotten. Together, we celebrated their sacrifices and raised awareness about the continued support they deserve.
I was pleased to attend the Ontario-Montclair School District Board of Trustees' recognition ceremony honoring the remarkable students of the 2023-2024 school year who achieved perfect scores on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).
The evening was filled with pride and celebration. Students and parents were warmly greeted at the event with a humorous video featuring school staff attempting to answer questions similar to those on the CAASPP test. The lighthearted start set the tone for an inspiring evening.
OMSD Board of Trustees President, Elvia M. Rivas, and OMSD Superintendent, Dr. James Hammond, welcomed everyone with heartfelt remarks. They congratulated the students, their parents, teachers, and school staff, recognizing the collective effort that guided these students to such an impressive acheivement.
In total, 45 students were honored for scoring 100% in Math, 26 students for scoring 100% in English Language Arts, and an extraordinary three students for scoring 100% in both subjects!
Congratulations to these high-achieving students and their proud families. A sincere thank you to the OMSD team for their unwavering dedication to educational excellence - it was an honor to witness such an inspiring celebration of success.
