Line Fire Threatens Highland and Mountain Communities
The Line Fire, which started near the intersection of Base Line and Alpin in Highland, has now consumed over 7,122 acres.
Incident Command is coordinating the response effort from Cal Fire, US Forest Service-San Bernardino National Forest. San Bernardino County Fire, San Bernardino County Sheriff, and multiple agencies from around the region are supporting with this incident, Containment currently stands at 0%, and the Line Fire could potentially spread further into the local mountains.
Officials have closed Baseline Road east of Weaver. Another closure is in place on Greenspot Road from Alta Vista to SR-38. Aurantia Parkin Highland is also closed.

 Evacuation Order Now in Effect
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has issued mandatory evacuation orders for:
- Calle Del Rio east to Garnett Street and State Route 38, including Greenspot Road north to the foothills; and
- All undeveloped land east of State Route 330 to Summertrail Place and north of Highland Avenue is now under evacuation.
Sheriff's Department personnel are going door-to-door to notify residents in the mandatory evacuation order area. It is important to take evacuation orders seriously to ensure public safety and the safety of first responders in this rapidly changing situation.
Evacuation warnings are also in place for:
- Church Street east to the eastern Highland city border and from the foothills south to Greenspot Road;
- Boulder Avenue east to Church Street, and Greenspot Road north to the foothills, and
- Running Springs, east of State Route 330 and South of State Route 18.
An Evacuation Warning means a potential threat to personal safety and/or property. Those who require additional time to evacuate and those with animals should consider leaving now. An Evacuation Order means there is an immediate threat to life, and it is a lawful order to go now.
 Red Cross Opens Evacuation Shelter in Highland
The American Red Cross has set up an evacuation shelter at Immanuel Baptist Church, 28355 Baseline Road in Highland. This shelter is designed to provide a safe haven for families and individuals under mandatory evacuation orders.
The Red Cross has brought mass care and shelter trailers to the site. Department of Behavioral Health staff will also be available to provide support to evacuees. Additionally, San Bernardino Animal Care services have a trailer for pets, while the County's Devore Animal Shelter is prepared to accommodate large animals.
Residents are encouraged to register at the shelter even if they do not plan to stay overnight. Registration assists with recovery efforts in the event homes are damaged or destroyed. The shelter will also offer evacuees food, snacks, water, comfort, and up-to-date information.
For those needing assistance, the shelter is open now at Immanuel Baptist Church, 28355 Baseline Road in Highland.
