County residents are urged to stay safe during the heat wave
 San Bernardino County Health Officer Dr. Michael Sequeira issued a heat advisory on Tuesday as extreme heat is expected to continue through the week.
“The heat can pose significant health risks, and it is crucial for individuals to be aware of these risks and take necessary precautions. Heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, can be life-threatening, especially for vulnerable populations,” Sequeira said. “By staying cool, staying hydrated and staying informed, we can protect ourselves and our loved ones from the dangers of extreme heat. Summer heat awareness is not just about comfort; it is a matter of public health and safety.”
Cool off at our splash pads at Cucamonga-Guasti, Mojave Narrows Regional Parks
Beat the heat and cruise by Cucamonga-Guasti or Mojave Narrows Regional Parks for some water time at our splash pads. The splash pads are open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Admission is $8 per vehicle Monday through Friday and $10 per vehicle on Saturday and Sunday.
Lego building event a success at Apple Vallely Library
 Lego fans came far and wide to see over 75 unique creations at the Newton T. Bass Apple Valley Branch Library on Saturday, Aug. 24. The San Bernardino County Library (SBCL) encouraged patrons of all ages to participate in a special contest to build their own one-of-a-kind Lego creation.
 The San Bernardino County Public Defender will hold a Mobile Defense Program event in Barstow on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Barstow Church of God in Christ, 1375 Bishop Nathaniel Jones Jr. Way. The Mobile Defense Program is dedicated to bringing equitable access to justice to all San Bernardino County residents by providing free legal assistance services and remote access to the San Bernardino Superior Court.
Operation Consequences: Aug. 24 through 30
 From Aug. 24 through 30, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Gangs/Narcotics Division, along with deputies from patrol stations, served four search warrants and contacted suspects at various locations in Adelanto, Victorville and Bloomington.
 Veterans Affairs (VA) is excited to announce the launch of its new website (va.sbcounty.gov), which has been redesigned for users to easily access information regarding benefits and services available to San Bernardino County’s veterans and their families.
Probation Department receives 2024 NCCHC accreditation

The San Bernardino County Probation Department celebrates the outstanding accomplishment of maintaining its National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) accreditation since 2011 for the Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center and Secured Youth Treatment Facility.
This achievement is a testament to the Probation Department’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of healthcare for incarcerated individuals within the county.
 The San Bernardino County Department of Public Health (DPH) hosted a Black Breastfeeding Week celebration event at San Bernardino Valley College, where breastfeeding and expecting parents were showered with education, resources and gifts.
The Black Infant Health (BIH) program, in partnership with the California Health Collaborative, Global Communities, and the Inland Empire Breastfeeding Coalition, provided attendees with valuable information and resources to support their breastfeeding and parenting journeys.
Registration is open for Children's Network Conference
 Registration is open for the 38th Annual Children’s Network Conference on Wednesday, Sept.18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The conference is one of the Inland Empire’s premier training events open to the public and professionals in social work, mental health, juvenile justice, child development, child welfare, nursing and more. The conference will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel located at 222 N. Vineyard Ave. in Ontario.

Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector (ATC) Ensen Mason is pleased to present another riveting story of the many great county residents that have served in his position since 1853.
G. Leon Gregory began his career as a deputy constable in August 1941. He entered naval service in April 1942, serving over two years overseas on the U.S.S. Tarpon and U.S.S. Angler. Gregory returned to his role as a deputy constable in the county courthouse in November 1945.
Gregory went on to serve as tax collector from 1948 to 1970. In addition to his role with the county, he became the first commander of Post 14 of the American Legion, past president of the Native Sons of the Golden West (Arrowhead Parlor) and a member of the Eagles Lodge.
