Building Safer Communities: Congressional Support Fuels San Bernardino County's Security Enhancement
It has been my privilege to serve as the Fourth District Supervisor for San Bernardino County since 2014. As a County, our commitment to public safety has always been a top priority. I've seen firsthand the challenges and opportunities involved in keeping our community safe and secure.
We are incredibly grateful to Congresswoman Young Kim's partnership and her efforts in Washington, D.C., to advance this priority for San Bernardino County. I'm excited to share that Congresswoman Kim secured $1.5 million in funding to enhance the safety and well-being of our residents and law enforcement.
This funding will be used by the Sheriff Shannon Dicus towards the purchase of body-worn cameras and related infrastructure for use in corrections. Law enforcement agencies use body cameras to record their interactions with the public. These devices serve as a vital tool to collect important evidence while also ensuring transparency and accountability.
This initiative is just one of the many ways we are working to enhance the safety of our communities and ensure that our law enforcement officers have the tools they need to do their jobs effectively and responsibly. Thank you, Sheriff Dicus and our Sheriff's Department for their ongoing commitment to excellence and proactive approach to adopting these technologies. And a special thanks to Congresswoman Young Kim for her continued advocacy on behalf of our county. Her efforts are making a tangible difference in the lives of our residents.
Every year, San Bernardino County Libraries host Summer Reading Programs, and I have the pleasure of recognizing outstanding readers with Kindle tablets.
I was proud to present tablets and Certificates of Recognition to the young participants at the Chino, James S. Thalman Chino Hills, and Montclair Libraries on Thursday, August 15.
Congratulations to the 100 tablet winners who completed the 2024 San Bernardino County Summer Reading Program. I hope these tablets inspire even more reading adventures.
Hats off to the proud parents for encouraging their children to enjoy reading!

This year, I celebrated #CityHallSelfie Day with my amazing team. We're proud to serve the Fourth District and work together to make our community stronger every day. Here's to Team Hagman making magic happen in our community.
This day is dedicated to uniting thousands of public servants and community members to celebrate local government and recognize the work of public servants in our community.
Chick-fil-A in Chino Hills got a surprise visit by my staff earlier this month. Deputy Chief, Peter Rogers, and Senior Field Representative, Suzette Dang, stopped by to personally congratulate and present a special Certificate of Recognition to the Owner/Operator, David Dinasan, and his Leadership Team.
The Fourth District Distinguished Business Award is a program that honors local businesses for their contributions to our economy and our community. Chick-fil-A in Chino Hills fits all the criteria and then some. For the past 20 years, they have been one of the most popular restaurants in the region, serving hundreds of people daily. Their outstanding contributions to schools, teachers, first responders, and many non-profits, along with sponsoring Christian youth camps, hosting motivational speakers for the business and leadership communities, financial literacy classes for Ayala HS students, community outreach including scholarship programs, civic events, and offering first-time jobs for local youth, have set a benchmark of excellence.
Serving others and the community is at the heart of everything they do. Thank you for being an active community partner in many creative and fulfilling ways.
Congratulations for being recognized as a Distinguished Business in the Fourth District of San Bernardino County.
Want to breeze through airport security in 10 minutes or less, without having to taking off your shoes or pull out your laptop? Consider enrolling in TSA PreCheck. You may now enroll or renew your TSA PreCheck status in person at Ontario International Airport.
CLEAR recently opened TSA PreCheck enrollment locations in both terminals. CLEAR is one of a few private companies authorized by the Department of Homeland Security to enroll or renew TSA PreCheck memberships in person. The biometrics company has kiosks at a limited number of airports around the country - now including ONT.
No appointments are needed to enroll in or renew TSA PreCheck via ONT's CLEAR locations. Just head to the lower level of Terminal 2 or 4 with your passport or accepted ID. The process takes minutes and costs $77.95 per person.
Ontario International Airport also has its own Global Entry Enrollment Center, which makes it easier for per-approved, low-risk international travelers to travel through ONT.
Ontario International Airport (ONT) set another record for passenger volume in July, with 14.4% more passengers passing through its terminals than the same month last year.
The Southern California gateway welcomed 666, 322 passengers in July, topping the record for a single month since the airport's return to local management in 206 and drawing closer to the all-time high of 693,000 established in August 2007.
The SB Express Lanes on the I-10 are opening on Thursday, August 29 and include two express lanes in each direction of the I-10 in San Bernardino County from the Los Angeles County Line to the I-15.
