Kickstart the School Year: 4th Annual Backpack Giveaway and $5,000 Donation Brings Joy to Vermont Elementary Students
San Bernardino Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. held his annual Backpack Giveaway at Vermont Elementary on August 7th, sponsoring the entire school and ensuring every student received a backpack. This cherished tradition reflects the commitment of San Bernardino County and Supervisor Baca, Jr. to the well-being and success of their students. “We are very proud to begin the school year alongside the students in our district, ensuring they are well-prepared to tackle the year ahead with confidence and success. As a former educator, it’s a joy to support their journey and educational goals from the start,” says Supervisor Baca, Jr.
 Supervisor Baca attended the Street Vendor Workshops hosted by County Health Services and Code Enforcement. The workshops were hosted in both English and Spanish, provided guidelines for street vendors to attain permits and operate according to standard.
We are thrilled to announce a series of initiatives approved by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
Several initiatives aimed at bolstering infrastructure and public safety were approved, aimed at furthering the progress of our region.

 Fire Station 226 in Del Rosa will be opening this fall. The newly enhanced station will aid firefighters with their response times and in helping residents more effectively.
 The Mission Zanja Bridge Project will connect Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino to California Street in Redlands. This project will be contributing to the larger Santa Ana River Trail extending from the Pacific Ocean to the San Bernardino Mountains.
 By improving the structural integrity of existing road surfaces and enhancing access for pedestrians, the El Rivino and Agua Mansa Road Project will contribute to a safer and more efficient transportation network in the Bloomington area.
 Glen Helen Regional Park has been enhanced with new lighting fixtures. The streetlights allow for improved safety and accessibility when traveling throughout the park
We are excited to announce that the Randall Ave Culvert @ Rialto Channel project in the City of Rialto is now complete. The project improved the channel and part of the crossing area nearby, enhancing resident safety.
Rosena Ranch Street Sweeping Kickoff
 In partnership with Burrtec Waste Inc., and CMAX, San Bernardino County was able to provide free street sweeping to the unincorporated community of Rosena Ranch at no expense for the next year.
 Supervisor Baca, Jr. spoke on a dynamic panel with other local elected officials on transforming cities and counties. He highlighted several County programs like the Pacific Village tackling housing and emphasized the importance of staying engaged as civic residents.
We celebrated National Night Out in the Fifth District on August 6th. It was great seeing the communities and local law enforcement come together. Bloomington, Colton, and Rialto each hosted such exciting events and Supervisor Baca was grateful to attend all of them.
