On Saturday, June 29, 2024, Congresswoman Norma Torres attended the City of Chino Fireworks Spectacular where she presented the Fourth District with $850,000 of Community Project Funding for Prado Regional Park. This funding is a game-changer for Prado Park, enabling the installation of new restrooms and a shower facility at the Tent Campground. Plus, we'll be refurbishing the campground landscaping and installing accessible walkways for those with disabilities.
Thank you, Congresswoman Torres!
On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, I had the pleasure of attending the Monte Vista Water District's Board Meeting where I shared the projects I'm currently working on in the Fourth District.
Additionally, I was deeply appreciative to receive a resolution, recognizing my service to the Fourth District during the meeting. Thank you to the Monte Vista Water District Board Members for your warm hospitality during my visit. It is a pleasure to work with you towards our shared goals for the community.
On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Pastor Robert Rocha from Voz Church in Ontario lead the pledge of allegiance and invocation at the Board of Supervisors meeting.
Pastor Robert, his wife Elizabeth, their family, and a dedicated team of members, established Voz Church which officially opened its doors on February 11, 2018, at the historic Granada Theatre in Ontario. Under his leadership, Voz Church has grown into a thriving multicultural, multigenerational congregation that is deeply involved in the local community.
Thank you, Pastor Robert for leading the pledge and invocation at our board meeting.
Last month, the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted an Innovation Roundtable Discussion at the Chino Hills Community Center. This event brought together over 40 community members and leaders to discuss the future of innovation in San Bernardino County.
During the event I shared county resources and programs for small businesses as well as provided attendees with an update on technology and its impact on governance. The county aims to support local businesses by improving marketing efforts and providing resources through various departments. To further support economic development, the county is focusing on hosting international events, including the 2028 Olympics, and developing recreational activities on vacant lands. These initiatives are designed to attract international business and tourism, benefiting the local economy.
I am committed to innovation and infrastructure development, coupled with the Chino Valley Chamber's support for local businesses, sets a strong foundation for future growth in San Bernardino County. This is an exciting time! The collaborative efforts of the county government and the Chamber will undoubtedly continue to drive progress and innovation in the region.
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event designed to build positive relationships between law enforcement and community members. NNO encourages citizens to engage with local first responders and learn about crime prevention strategies and emergency preparedness. By fostering cooperation and understanding, NNO strengthens the bond between the community and those who protect it, contributing to a safer and more cohesive environment.
Most of these free NNO events will take place on Tuesday, August 6.

Passenger volume at Ontario International Airport soared to a new record in June, reaching 652,729 and surpassing the previous high of 618,000 set just a month earlier. This June marked a 16.7% increase compared to the same month last year, making it the highest monthly total since ONT transitioned to local ownership in 2016.
The airport is approaching its all-time passenger record of 693,000 set in August 2007. In June, the Southern California gateway saw 615,355 domestic passengers, a 17.9% rise from last June, while the number of international travelers remained steady.
On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Ontario International Airport announced that travelers can now enroll or renew their TSA PreCheck membership in either of the airport's two terminals.
CLEAR, an authorized TSA PreCheck enrollment provider, stated that pre-enrolled travelers in the Trusted Traveler program can complete the process in minutes by visiting any available enrollment location on the lower level of Terminal 2 or Terminal 4. Travelers must bring a passport or another accepted form of identification, and no appointment is necessary.
In the early hours on June 21, 2024, before sunrise, the next generation of clean passenger rail vehicles arrived in San Bernardino County. Set to begin service this fall between San Bernardino and Redlands, North America's first self-powered, zero-emission passenger train, compliant with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations, has entered its final testing phase. The train's arrival at the San Bernardino Depot Train Station marks a significant milestone in its journey from concept to reality.
This passenger train, known as a Zero Emission Multiple Unit (ZEMU), uses hybrid hydrogen and battery technology to propel the train and power its onboard electrical systems. The only emission from the propulsion system is water vapor, making it a clean transit alternative.
The train's arrival in Southern California is the result of more than 10 years of planning, including four years of train development, by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA). Recognizing the need for efficient, sustainable passenger rail as part of the regional transportation ecosystem, SBCTA serves one of the fastest-growing economic and population centers in the country, as well as one of the most challenged air quality basins in North America.
