Reducing homelessness throughout San Bernardino County is a top priority for the Board of Supervisors and the County Team. On Thursday, January 25, 2024, I helped conduct the annual Point-in-Time Count, specifically in the Fourth District. It's important to have some idea of how many homeless people we have in San Bernardino County in order to qualify for the federal funding needed to address this issue. This is also an opportunity for many of our county departments and the community to work together on improving the quality of life in our county for all residents
I partnered with the City of Montclair to host a free document shredding event for San Bernardino County residents.
Please join me on Saturday, March 16th from 9 am-12 pm (or until the shredding truck reaches capacity) at Montclair City Hall, located at 5111 Benito Street, in Montclair.
For more information on this event, please call my District Office at (909) 465-5265.
As part of my desire to support business growth in San Bernardino County. I would like to re-introduce a program that promotes and highlights businesses in the Fourth District! The Fourth District Distinguished Business Award is a program that honors local businesses for their contributions to our economy and our community. Businesses, especially small businesses, are a vital part of our communities, providing innovation, services, revenue, employment, and community participation. There are many exceptional businesses that serve as the economic backbone of our county, and I want to recognize them.
If you would like to nominate a business that you believe meets the "exceptional business" criteria and it is located within the Fourth District of the County (Chino, Chino Hills, Montclair, Ontario, and Upland), please nominate them below.
In January, almost 470,000 passengers passed through Ontario International Airport, with 45,012 of those being international travelers, marking a new record. The all-time high for international travelers in a single month was about 90% higher in January 2023 and exceeded the previous record of 43,551 in July of last year.
Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector Ensen Mason and Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Chris Wilhite have issued a joint warning to San Bernardino County residents to beware of fraudulent telephone calls using false information to collect a debt or property tax payment with the threat that the resident's driver's license will be suspended if payment is not received. The caller is using a telephone line spoofed to appear as an actual County telephone number. Both the Tax Collector and Assessor will not initiate unsolicited phone calls in this manner.
For general questions, the Auditor-Controller/Tax Collector can be reached at (909) 387-8322. Taxpayers can pay their property taxes securely online at mytaxcollector.com, by phone at (909) 387-8308, in-person or by mail to the Tax Collector's Office at 268 West Hospitality Lane, First Floor, San Bernardino, CA 92415-0360.
