 As the new Office of Emergency Services (OES) director, Crisanta Gonzalez will play a critical role in strengthening the county’s emergency preparedness, response and recovery capabilities to ensure the protection of life and property before, during and after natural disasters.
Empathy at the Center of Footsteps to You digital exhibit
 Black History Month is an opportunity to understand Black history and spotlight Black achievement. In partnership with the Black Voice Foundation (BVF), the San Bernardino County Museum digitally converted a physical exhibit, Footsteps to You: Chattel Slavery, into a virtual exhibit, which offers an exhibit experience to all museum lovers. The exhibit brings together a collection of documents and artifacts that were bequeathed to BVF by the estate of historian Jerry Gore in 2016.

New exhibit at the Victor Valley Museum: Continuing the conversation about drug addiction
 Join the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health for an opening reception of the INTO LIGHT project, an exhibition that puts a human face on the disease of addiction through hand-drawn portraits and written narratives to change the conversation about drug addiction.
San Bernardino County Library hosts Cover to Cover Club
 The San Bernardino County Library is partnering with In-N-Out Burger again this year to promote reading among children this spring. The Cover to Cover program kicks off on Saturday, March 2 and will run through Saturday, April 13. This program will encourage students to read in all communities across the county.
 The Department of Aging and Adult Services - Public Guardian (DAAS-PG) is the designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for San Bernardino County and is dedicated to addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by older adults and individuals with disabilities in our community.
Aging and Adult Services announces date of annual conference for professionals working with older adults and individuals with disabilities
 San Bernardino County’s Department of Aging and Adult Services-Public Guardian (DAAS-PG) invites all public and private professionals who support older adults and individuals with disabilities to mark their calendars for the 36th Annual Adult Protective Services (APS) Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Conference on May 22 from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel Ontario Airport in Ontario. Registration for the conference will open in April.
Children and Family Services announces return of foster and kinship youth summer camp program
 Children and Family Services (CFS), in partnership with Children’s Network, is thrilled to announce the Youth Enrichment and Engagement Program (YEEP). As we inch closer to the warmer months, excitement brews for many families as they plan their summer adventures. However, for foster youth and their caregivers, summer can pose unique challenges. Recognizing the need to provide enriching experiences and foster stronger bonds within these families, the overnight camp will offer a supportive environment with activities that contribute to the development of self-confidence.
County Library hosts “Read Across America” special events and circulation incentives
 The San Bernardino County Library invites the public to join in celebration of Read Across America with special storytimes, circulation incentives and more. From Thursday, Feb. 29 through Saturday, March 9, customers who check out 30 items with their library card and present those checkout receipts at the service desk will receive a limited edition literary-themed canvas tote bag, a nod to the classic “Little Golden Books.”

Marcus Katz, a pivotal Jewish civic leader and businessman, was born in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany on Sept. 20, 1820. In 1845, he set sail for America, eventually landing in Baltimore, Maryland where he remained until the California Gold Rush prompted his migration to San Francisco.
