Chief Munsey urges Congress to help prevent local disasters
 San Bernardino County Fire Protection District Chief Dan Munsey recently testified before Congress in support of new public lands legislation authored by Congresswoman Young Kim (R-Fullerton), stating the bill would help County Fire prevent deadly wildfires and subsequent debris flows.
County departments receive recognition for work on diversity and inclusion
 The Board of Supervisors and members of the county's Equal Opportunity Commission (EOC) present the 2022-2023 Diversity Awards to county department directors.
County Library, Regional Parks, Registrar of Voters and Preschool Services were acknowledged by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, Feb. 6 for cultivating a diverse and inclusive workforce that aligns with the Countywide Vision for equity.

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) has made the Best Maternity Hospital list for 2024 by U.S. News & World Report, a global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice.
This recognition comes with a High Performing Designation, a testament to ARMC’s commitment to providing exceptional care to expectant parents. ARMC is 1 of only 73 hospitals in the U.S. to achieve the designation.

Black Voice News has given voice to the voiceless and shined a light on systemic inequities and disparities since 1972, when it was founded by a group of students at the University of California, Riverside. In 1980, Hardy and Cheryl Brown became stewards of the newspaper and founded Brown Publishing Co. and in 2012, the Brown’s daughter Dr. Paulette Brown-Hinds became publisher and is currently leading the transformation to solutions-oriented and data-driven reporting that addresses issues from disparities in health, education and wealth to police violence, social justice and civil rights battles.
San Bernardino County Transitional Assistance Department announces Young Child and Foster Youth California Tax Credits
 The Transitional Assistance Department’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), provides free tax preparation services for low-to-moderate-income taxpayers in San Bernardino County. Alongside federal Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC), California provides two additional credits - the Young Child Tax Credit and the Foster Youth Tax Credit, each up to $1,117.

Parent and Family Community Engagement (PFCE) is an integral unit within the Preschool Services Department (PSD) that fosters a collaborative environment, educating parents on child development and facilitating effective communication. The PFCE program promotes parental involvement and smooth transitions for families. The newly established PFCE program manager position enhances support and efficiency, focusing on children's well-being and community empowerment.
