County prepares for back-to-back storms
The National Weather Service tells us the first significant rain event of the year is expected to arrive this morning and should continue through tomorrow, with intensities capable of causing flooding near creeks and across roadways. Measurable snow is forecast to fall as low as the Big Bear Valley, especially on Friday when the storm gets colder. Saturday and most of Sunday should be dry, but a slow-moving storm is heading our way Sunday afternoon through Tuesday.
San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs available onsite in Morongo Basin
 San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs (VA) is excited to announce our field site visit to the Morongo Basin area. According to the US Census Bureau, around 5,000 veterans live in Joshua Tree and the surrounding cities. Because of the proximity to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, there is no surprise that the Morongo Basin region has a significant veteran population.

 San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs joined hundreds of county and community volunteers throughout the county Jan. 25 for the Point-in-Time Count (PITC).
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center awarded EDSP Grant

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) was awarded the Emergency Department Syphilis/HIV/HCV Screening Program (EDSP) grant by Public Health Institute/Bridge and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). ARMC will receive $625,000 to establish or grow emergency department opt-out testing, treatment and aftercare for patients to help control these epidemics statewide.
Valentine’s Day marriage ceremonies at the County Clerk
 The San Bernardino County Clerk is gearing up for its busiest day of the year, Valentine’s Day. As the county entity responsible for the issuance of marriage licenses and performance of civil wedding ceremonies, Valentine’s Day is a big day for both the couple “tying the knot” and staff.
Community gathers for storytime guest Tiffany Haddish
 On Friday, Jan. 19, the San Bernardino County Library welcomed actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish to the Sam J. Racadio Highland Branch Library for a special storytime, where the comedian read her children's book "Layla the Last Black Unicorn."
 Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector (ATC) Ensen Mason is pleased to introduce a new weekly series recognizing the many great county residents that have served in his position since the founding of San Bernardino County in 1853. This is the first in a series of profiles, which aim to provide historical information about the county and its former ATC officials.
Regional Parks commemorates 60 years with year-long celebrations
 For 60 years, San Bernardino County Regional Parks has focused on offering local communities, residents, and visitors from all over the globe the opportunity to experience the history, culture and natural resources of the county ranging from the Chino Basin to the high desert. Supported by the Board of Supervisors, the Regional Parks department envisions an eco-friendly, well-maintained, self-supporting park system through the provision of innovative amenities and a wide array of community programs.
County Fire hosts community meetings on Service Zone FP-5 and Measure W
 The San Bernardino County fire chief and executive staff will present information regarding Service Zone FP-5 and proposed Measure W. After the presentation, the fire chief and his staff will be available to answer questions from the public.
