San Bernardino County launches Preparedness Starts Here program
 San Bernardino County is vulnerable to almost every form of natural disaster – earthquakes, wildfires, floods, debris flows, severe winds, extreme drought, and now crippling blizzards and tropical storms. Being on guard has never been more important, which is why San Bernardino County is putting disaster readiness front and center with the Preparedness Starts Here program.
Board actions: Dec. 5, 2023
 The Board of Supervisors took action to revolutionize the delivery of emergency medical care and transportation in most of San Bernardino County on Tuesday by unanimously approving an agreement with an alliance of local public fire agencies to provide basic and advanced life support, ground ambulance services, and interfacility and critical care transport services to the vast majority of county residents.
County Office of Homeless Services welcomes Marcus Dillard as new chief
 Marcus Dillard, who housed over 900 homeless individuals through Riverside County’s Project Roomkey program and the March Veterans Village, has been named as the new chief of San Bernardino County’s Office of Homeless Services.
Public Works director retires after 32 years with the county
 After over three decades of dedicated service, Brendon Biggs, director of San Bernardino County’s Department of Public Works, is bidding farewell to a distinguished career.
Throughout his journey, Brendon played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of San Bernardino County. He also became a familiar and calm presence during countless TV news interviews during floods and other disasters.
World War II and Vietnam vets receive high school diplomas through Operation Recognition Veterans Diploma Project
San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs, in partnership with the County Superintendent of Schools, presented high school diplomas to the family of a World War II veteran and three veterans of the Vietnam War at the 15th Annual Operation Recognition Veterans Diploma Project (ORVDP) ceremony. ORDVP provides veterans who were unable to complete high school due to military service during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War the opportunity to receive a high school diploma.
Creating an entrepreneurship community in San Bernardino County
 Numerous budding entrepreneurs recently marked a significant achievement on their personal career paths by graduating from a complimentary eight-week program on the essentials of starting, funding and expanding a business. This noteworthy event, a fitting tribute to November’s Entrepreneurship Month, was made possible through the collaborative efforts of San Bernardino County’s Department of Economic Development and the Asociacion de Emprendedor@s.
Helping veterans: the power of partnerships in public service
 Until yesterday, Tom Burciaga and Kelly Moore were strangers, each dedicating endless hours making sure our veterans were connected with whatever help they needed. Their paths first crossed at the San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board (WDB) hiring and resource fair on Nov. 30, made possible through a partnership with the City of Upland.

San Bernardino County provides affordable spay and neuter vouchers to combat pet overpopulation
San Bernardino County is committed to reducing the number of homeless animals and unwanted litters. Starting this week, all residents in unincorporated areas and the City of Big Bear Lake can receive a $150 spay or neuter voucher for dogs and $75 for cats!
