Join Supervisor Hagman for a Fourth District Christmas Open House
Please join me and Team Hagman for a Christmas Open House on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Come enjoy appetizers, refreshments, and Holiday Cheer! The event will take place at Chino Hills City Hall, located at 14000 City Center Drive, from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.
For more information on the event, please call our District Office at (909)465-5265.
Each year, I partner with the San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs Department to host a Veteran Claims Event at my District Office in Chino Hills. The purpose of this event is to bring services and benefits offered by our VA Department to our veterans on the West End of San Bernardino County. During the event veterans had the opportunity to meet with County Veteran Service Officers who were able to answer questions about existing claims, conduct benefit assessment interviews, complete claim forms and paperwork, file compensation claims and more. Veterans were also issued their San Bernardino County Military Veteran ID Cards.
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved issuance of Military Veteran ID Cards, similar to those currently available in several counties including Kings County and Butte County. The purpose of the ID Card is to give the county's veterans an easier way to obtain benefits they deserve. Some area merchants offer discounts and other benefits to veterans who patronize their business, and this ID can make it easier for them to determine veteran status.
To learn more about the services and benefits offered to veterans, please visit the San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs Department website.
Earlier this month, Team Hagman attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Graber Olive House as a celebration that they will be open to the general public in the coming weeks.
The gift shop and grounds have been closed since 2020 and were only open for special events through their partnership with Gourmet Gourmet. Since 2020, olives could only be purchased online.

The Graber Olive House is the original site of the longest-operating olive packing business in the United States. The family home, in which the product, designed as Graber Olives, was developed, is now designated as historic, and the original farm designated as a historic site. The business was founded in 1894, two years after Clifford C. Graber and his brother, Charles, arrived from Clay City, Indiana.
C.C. Graber purchased land in Ontario and discovered olives, as cured by the early ranchers, to be one of the finest food delicacies of California. After much research and study of their methods. Mr. Graber cured several barrels himself. The following season a much greater quantity of his olives was demanded by neighbors and friends who had eaten from the original barrels.
Thus began Ontario's oldest existing business. Since 1894, Graber Olives, fully tree-ripened with delicated, rich flabor and succulent texture, continue to be enjoyed by generations of families throughout the world. With the Graber process, the natural full flavor and succulence of the tree-ripened olives has been preserved.
As they celebrate 129 years in business, owners Robert Graber, Jr., and his wife Kelsey, want to make sure that the history of the business will always be a prominent part of the story of Graber Olives.
Last month, Second District Supervisor Jesse Armendarez and I were pleased to present the City of Upland with an allocation of funds to move forward with two important projects.
The first project, Baldy View Dog Park, will include a redesign, expansion, and improvement of the large and small dog areas of the park. This includes the installation of fencing, lighting, shade structures, walking path installation, sod installation, and dog park amenities, as a way of promoting healthier living environments and socialization.
The second project, located in Downtown Upland, will support the installation of multiple surveillance cameras in the downtown area to improve public safety and security. This project will be an important step towards creating a safer and more secure downtown area for residents, workers, and visitors.
I'm looking forward to seeing these projects break ground!
Last month, I visited with Kevin Cisneros and Erica Moreno from the Chino Neighborhood House to show my support with a contribution from San Bernardino County to their new facility. The Neighborhood House does a phenomenal job of providing groceries and hygiene items for low to moderate income families in our community. This allocation will provide the Chino Neighborhood House with much needed funds to make improvements to their new facility.
Thank you for your warm welcome, may your efforts to serve others with kindness continue to see success!
The Chino Neighborhood House Store Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. and is located at 13130 6th Street in Chino.
I value the input of our residents who volunteer to serve their community and make an effort towards improving the quality of life in our County. Ontario International Airport's groundbreaking ONT+ digital pass program that allows community members to conveniently accompany or pick up families and friends at the gate has received prestigious Turning Red Tape Into Red Carpet Award from the Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP).
The ONT+ program, launched a year ago, was honored by IEEP in the category of Cooperation Among Cities, Counties or Agencies in recognition of the collaboration between airport staff and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in providing the non-travelling public access to the security side of passenger terminals.
Under the program, community members can obtain an almost instantaneous digital visitor pass, which they can use - much like and airline ticket - to enter TSA checkpoints and access the post-security side of the passenger terminal. The program, among the first of its kind in the United States, provides the community access to the terminal and airport services that have largely been unavailable to non-travelers since before 9/11.
More than 4,000 people per month now use ONT+.
The San Bernardino County Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures (AWM) conducts regulatory programs and provides related services to protect the agricultural industry, businesses, and consumers in the County through the fair and equitable applications and enforcement of laws and regulations. AWM is made of three divisions Consumer Protection, Pest Exclusion, and Environmental Protection.
The Consumer Protection division conducts inspections aimed at protecting buyers and sellers by ensuring that commercial weighing and measuring devices are accurate and prices for items are correctly charged. Many different types of devices are inspected, including but not limited to, scales, gasoline pumps, taximeters, and gas/electric/water utility sub-meters. Additionally, the Consumer Protection division conducts quantity control inspections on packaged items. Packaged items are inspected to ensure that they contain the stated quantity. This includes items packed by weight, volume, or count. Inspections are made at both retail store locations and manufacturing plants. Computerized Pricing Systems are inspected for accuracy by comparing the posted or advertised price to what is charged at the register. Our seal on these devices shows that they were accurate when tested.
The High-Risk Pest Exclusion program is considered the first line of defense in the work to keep harmful insects and plant pests out of the county. The High-Risk Pest exclusion program conducts inspections of incoming shipments at air cargo facilities such as UPS, FedEx and the United States Post Office distribution center located within the county. Inspections are also conducted at nurseries and retail distribution centers throughout the county.
The Environmental Protection division is comprised of two main programs: Pesticide Use Enforcement and Invasive Weed Eradication.
The Pesticide Use Enforcement program protects pest control company employees, agricultural field workers, landscape gardeners, the public and the environment from improper pesticide use. This is done by issuing pesticide use permits, conducting pre--site application inspections, pesticide use inspections, structural fumigation inspection and completing pest control business records inspections.
The Invasive Weed Eradication program monitors known infestations and manually removes these invasive weeds as necessary.
The Agriculture/Weights & Measures Department is located at 777 E. Rialto Ave. in San Bernardino and can be reached Monday through Friday at 1(800)734-9459.
I am pleased to share that San Bernardino County is in the process of establishing a Trap-Neuter-Return +Vaccination program. San Bernardino County Department of Public Health (DPH), Animal Care (AC) are currently seeking applicants, from interested and qualified organizations and firms, to conduct a comprehensive Trap-Neuter-Return +Vaccination (TNR+V) program across the specified areas of the county. The TNR+V program is a method utilized for controlling the population growth of community cats. In addition, the TNR+V program will create opportunities for outreach, education, and cooperation with the public on community cat management and disease prevention.
For more information on the TNR+V program, please visit https://animalcare.sbcounty.gov/tnrv/. Applications must be received no later than 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 30, 2023, and must follow guidelines stated in the Request for Application for Trap-Neuter-Return +Vaccination and include all required documents as indicated on the Proposal Checklist.

In San Bernardino County, the Board of Supervisors plays a crucial and constant role in bringing these and many other vital services to county residents, visitors and businesses. However, many are unaware of how counties and their boards of supervisors fit into the overall public service picture that also includes cities, states, and the federal government.
