Celebrating a Community Victory: Bus Shelters Installed in Response to Supervisor Baca, Jr.'s Request
Our team recently addressed a pressing need in our community by advocating for bus shelters in specific areas, and we are thrilled to announce that Omnitrans has responded to this request and delivered! We conducted a thorough assessment of bus stops in San Bernardino, identifying locations that required additional amenities such as benches or shelters. Recognizing the importance of providing a safe and comfortable environment for public transportation riders, key areas including Highland and Merito were selected. We extend our deepest appreciation to Omnitrans for their swift response and execution of the project, demonstrating their dedication to customer satisfaction and community engagement.
State Street Interim Widening Project
We are excited to announce the addition of the State Street Interim Widening Project to the Measure "I" Five-Year Capital Project Needs Analysis. This project will focus on enhancing our transportation network and addressing traffic congestion in the Muscoy area. With an estimated total cost of $4,000,000, the project aims to widen one lane on the west side of State Street, install sidewalks, and incorporate American with Disabilities Act curb ramps between Adams Street and Darby Street.

Randall Avenue Culvert Replacement Project
The Board of Supervisors has approved the plans and specifications for this important project. The aim of the Randall Avenue Culvert Replacement Project is to enhance the existing infrastructure by replacing two corrugated metal pipes with a reinforced concrete box culvert and wingwalls. The project also includes roadway reconstruction, sidewalk, curb and gutter work, the construction of a small channel section, and rock slope protection measures. During construction, Randall Avenue will be temporarily closed for approximately 70 working days to ensure public safety. The project has obtained all necessary regulatory permits, and the Flood Control District will address any required mitigation for permanent impacts.

 Excessive Heat Warning in Effect!
Temperatures will continue to rise throughout the week, peaking over the weekend with dangerously hot conditions reaching as high as 108.
Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Reminder to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.
