“As a past educator myself, I know the feeling of wanting to see my students grow and achieve their goals. Pushing and encouraging our students is the first step into them learning to be confident in the work they create. The role of a teacher in society is extremely important and I cannot thank them all enough. My experience as a teacher has taught me characteristics that are forever instilled in me today, and these five teachers chosen for this year’s appreciation week are just some of the few who have changed the lives of students for the better. -Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr.
With over 350 volunteers who came out to both Bloomington and Muscoy, this event was more than a success. We were able to clean so much of the city and dispose of trash properly. Seeing those care to clean our community and especially our ecosystem and overall environment was touching and hopeful to see.
On April 18th the Office of Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. partnered with San Bernardino County Workforce Development Department to host College and Career Day, a tremendous event created to bring access to opportunities directly to high school seniors in the Fifth District. Thirty vendors that offered apprenticeships, higher education, and career opportunities met with over 150 students from our three school districts: Colton Joint Unified, Rialto Unified, and San Bernardino City Unified. California Steel, American Medical Response, San Bernardino County Fire, Operation New Hope, California Department of Rehabilitation, Chaffey Intech, and Valley Community College were just a few of the partners that came to connect with seniors offering them an array of choices beyond their high school education. The event was purposefully held at the America’s Job Center of California in the Inland Center Mall to open this state-of-the-art facility to our community. Staff is available Monday through Friday 8am- 5pm to help all San Bernardino County residents, of all ages, with their education and career goals at no cost.
