County’s Election Ballots Being Processed and Counted Daily
Election Day may be over, but County election workers continue working daily to process ballots for counting.
At the end of day Wednesday, November 4, more than 490,000 ballots have already been processed and counted – which is 44% of the 1.1 million registered voters in our County. As of this date, there are an additional 346,000 mail ballots, 15,300 provisional and conditional voter registration provisional ballots, and 2,700 others that remain to be processed.
Per new state legislation for this election, ROV will continue to accept ballots through Nov. 20 that were mailed through USPS and postmarked by Nov. 3. ROV appreciates the public’s patience as it continues processing and counting ballots. By law, the County’s Registrar must certify this election by Dec. 1.
Ballots are being counted at the Registrar of Voters offices daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until all ballots are counted. Daily election result updates are posted on the ROV website at 4 p.m. To see the latest election results updated each weekday at 4 p.m., go to www.SBCountyElections.com.
New Infographic Summarizes Reminders for County Residents
San Bernardino County leaders continue their intensive daily efforts to transition the county from the state’s Purple Tier to its Red Tier, which will allow residents to enjoy indoor religious services and dining and get back into the gym, among other benefits.
But there’s a lot that County residents can do as well. That’s why the County has developed a new, easy-to-read infographic briefly summarizing five key steps residents can take to contribute to this effort:
- Get tested often, even if you don’t have symptoms.
- Use great caution when gathering with others.
- Comply with COVID-19 guidelines offered by the County and the state.
- Stay informed by taking advantage of various County information sources, including the COVID-19 website.
- Do what you can to stay healthy — both physically and mentally.
County officials are encouraging residents to download, print and share the infographic to help keep these tips top-of-mind.
“This new tool serves as a convenient reminder of how every resident can help us reopen our County and get back to normal,” said Board of Supervisor Chairman Curt Hagman. “Diligently following these five simple steps will help more businesses prosper, help more people get back to work, and help us get past the challenges we’ve all faced these past several months.”
New Form Designed to Help Businesses Control COVID-19 Outbreaks
County officials and local business owners have consistently shared a mission to reassure customers and employees that their health and wellbeing is of paramount concern. Heavy participation in programs such as the COVID-Compliant Business Partnership has demonstrated to County and State officials how serious we are about reopening our businesses.
The County has now introduced another tool to assist businesses in their efforts to keep employees and others safe: the COVID-19 Facility Outbreak/Cluster Reporting form.
The form’s purpose is simple: to make it easy to notify the County Department of Public Health when a business suspects a potential COVID-19 outbreak at a specific facility or workplace. Quickly sharing such concerns with DPH gives the department the information needed to immediately respond with steps that can help prevent further spread, minimizing the impacts on business operations.
Employers or their employees can use the form to alert DPH when it appears a facility is experiencing an unusual number of COVID-19 cases — with all information kept strictly confidential and used exclusively to help control the further spread of the virus.
“By receiving this information right away, we are able to immediately respond and nip a potential outbreak in the bud,” said Corwin Porter, the County Public Health director. “Increasing testing of residents throughout the county and then reacting quickly when an outbreak is detected will help us slow the spread of the virus and get our lives back to normal.”
