County Polling Places Open from Saturday through Election Day
If you prefer the tradition of voting in person, you can still choose to vote early at your assigned polling place beginning this Saturday, Oct. 31. The county’s 210 polling locations will be open this year from Saturday, October 31 through Tuesday, November 3.
You can use the county’s polling place search tool or look on the back of your Voter Information Guide to find your assigned polling place. If possible, voters should try to use their assigned polling place for the most efficient and quickest process.
Polling places will be open for four days this election.
- October 31 to November 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- November 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Creating a safe environment for voters and poll workers is a high priority. Poll workers will be provided with face masks, face shields, gloves, hand sanitizer, and cleaning supplies. High-touch surfaces will be cleaned throughout the day. Voters who arrive without a face mask will be offered one.
County Issues Guidelines for Ski Resorts
The County has issued guidance allowing ski resorts to reopen with adjustments, such as modifying resort facilities to minimize people congregating in groups.
“Winter is coming, and we hope it will bring considerable snowfall after all these months of drought,” said County Board of Supervisor Chairman Curt Hagman. “We wish our resort operators a successful season, and encourage people to enjoy the fresh mountain air. But it’s essential to remember that COVID-19 is still a menace, and everyone needs to take great care to avoid further spread of the disease.”
The guidance calls for ski resorts to promote physical distancing and require face coverings. In addition, they are encouraged to limit ticket availability on peak dates and to employ contactless pick-up kiosks for lift-ticket purchases.
Resorts are also required to expand the cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces, including rental items such as ski and snowboard gear, goggles and ski poles, etc. They should also regularly disinfect ski lifts, and limit the capacity on trams and shuttle buses (as well as disinfecting and sanitizing them multiple times a day). Group skiing or snowboarding lessons must be limited to small groups and ski lifts to members of the same party. Ski lift singles lines are prohibited.
Rules for nearby facilities
Under the new guidance, resort hotels are permitted to open with comparable modifications. While fitness centers are allowed to operate outdoors (with modifications), saunas and steam rooms, along with meeting venues, banquet halls and convention centers, are required to remain closed.
Bars, breweries and distilleries must also remain closed. Restaurants are permitted to operate outdoors, as well as to offer takeout, drive-through and/or food delivery. Retail stores are permitted to open with modifications such as limiting capacity to 25%; grocery stores are limited to 50%.
