Interim City Manager Jim Pia has announced John Murray as Salinas’ next Assistant Chief of Police, effective Monday, January 29, 2024. Chief Murray has served the Salinas community for over 27 years with the Salinas Police Department (SPD), most recently as a Commander in the Field Operations Division. Natividad Foundation- C.H.O.I.C.E Intervention Specialist-

The CHOICE Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing intensive case management and peer-mentoring services to violently injured youth and adults in order to reduce the risk of re-injury. They are also in charge of enrollment screening, connecting participants to appropriate services and resources, collecting data, and assisting in the development and sustainability of community resources.

 Full-time, regular (M-F, 8am - 5pm, after-hours/weekends)

Rate: $27.00 - $28.47 per hour

Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley, Inc. provides home-delivered meals to its clients in the Salinas Valley.  The person in this position works 32 hours a week and may also be assigned to work on weekends, evenings or holidays.  Assignment of work is the responsibility of the Program Manager.

AmeriCorps, Preschool Service Corps Member

The Preschool Service Corps Member (PSC Member) provides direct service in a preschool classroom to assigned preschool children. The PSC member takes direction from the classroom teacher to provide high-quality interaction with assigned children who are not yet at age level in language and literacy measures. She/he will be responsible for providing planned activities that are engaging, active, and hands-on; document all activities, child progress, and outcomes.

Grants Manager

The Grants Manager will be responsible for managing an active grants calendar and writing, reporting, and researching grants from foundations, corporations, and government funders. Additionally, the Grants Manager will assist in preparing a number of supporting documents for grant proposals, such as cover letter, budget, budget narrative, project plans, program evaluation, etc. This position will require close collaboration with the Community Impact team and will ensure resources for United Way priorities are met or exceeded

Community Impact Director, Financial Stability

The Community Impact Director, Financial Stability oversees and implements UWMC’s
asset building and affordable housing programs through partnerships, grant making, direct service,
and advocacy. Our goal is for Monterey residents to be economically self-sufficient, with more
opportunities for prosperity. These programs and services are supported by grants from foundations,
government contracts, corporate and individual donors.
