Dear Friends,

The past few weeks have seen a number of changes in our county with regard to COVID 19. Vaccinations are now more readily available to more people and the result has been a decrease in new cases. However, we are still not where we would like to be, with too many people not getting vaccinating.  If you are eligible, please get vaccinated for you, your family and friends, and our community. You can find out who is eligible and where vaccines are given here. In the meantime, please respect others by continuing to wear masks and socially distancing, at least until state health authorities order otherwise.

And now, today’s e-smile: https://youtu.be/Tu3HN-MmJc4. GO STELLA GO!

Stay safe! Stay healthy! Stay happy!

Patrick

Sacramento County Deploying New Vaccination Trailers

Sacramento County Public Health has introduced two great new resources in the fight against Covid-19, “Glenna” and “Olivia” -  named after current Sacramento County Public Health Officer Dr. Olivia Kasirye and her predecessor Dr. Glenna Trochet, in honor of all they have done to improve public health in Sacramento County.  On the first day of deployment ”Olivia was  at the Valley Hi Library in District 2!

These vaccine trailers will enable Sacramento County Public Health to meet the community where they are and allow for more partnerships with businesses, churches, and community organizations.  This will reduce barriers to getting vaccinated and provide one more tool in the fight against Covid-19.

If you are interested in hosting a vaccine trailer, please fill out one of the following surveys and the Sacramento County Public Health team will reach out to you.

Redistricting Begins in Sacramento County

The process for re-drawing boundary lines for each of the five supervisorial districts in Sacramento County has begun.

Every ten years, following the Census count, the resulting census data is used to geographically define electoral districts, at all levels of government. Redistricting ensures that each of the electoral district boundaries have about the same number of people and comply with the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965.

To that end, Sacramento County’s Redistricting 2021 webpage is live and will be a vital resource for County residents to learn more about redistricting, the importance of public participation in redistricting and how to participate in the process.

Timeline for Redistricting Work

May-September 2021: Hold public hearings and community workshops about the Redistricting, the process, mapping tools tutorials and other redistricting information.

October-November 2021: Draft map preparation and review after public participation

Nov. 17: First reading of County ordinance adopting final district maps.

Dec. 2: Second reading of County ordinance adopting final district maps.
