 Dear Third District Resident,
April is National Volunteer Month, a time to recognize the incredible impact volunteers have had across the Third District. It is an opportunity to reflect on how giving back through time, skills, and compassion strengthens the very fabric of our community.
From April 20th to 26th, we celebrate National Volunteer Week, a time to honor the hard work, dedication, and passion of volunteers and service organizations in our communities. Volunteers are the heartbeat of our neighborhoods, supporting causes that matter most and helping to create a brighter, more compassionate future.
As we celebrate both National Volunteer Month and National Volunteer Week, let us remember that each of us has the power to contribute. Whether it’s lending a hand at a local food bank, mentoring young minds, or participating in neighborhood cleanups, your involvement makes a lasting difference. Volunteering is more than just an act of service; it is a commitment to building a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Together, let us continue making a positive impact and honoring those who give their time and energy to improve the lives of others.
Sincere regards,

Community Improvement Funds At Work: Bringing Home Hope
Mission Hope recently celebrated a significant milestone with the renovation and ribbon cutting of one of their Hope Family Houses in Murrieta, CA. This transformation was made possible through the united efforts of multiple local nonprofits, working hand-in-hand to turn heartbreak into healing.
In the summer of 2024, a family of six visiting from out of state experienced an unimaginable crisis when the mother suffered a sudden medical emergency. With the mother hospitalized, the father was left to care for their four daughters alone—far from home and surrounded by uncertainty. But what could have been a time of isolation quickly became a story of community and compassion.
Thanks to the support of organizations like Jacob’s House, Project Touch, and now transitional housing provided by Mission Hope, this family has experienced unwavering care and support. When Habitat for Humanity Inland Empire learned of the effort to renovate the Hope Family House, they eagerly joined the project. With funding from grants through our office and support from dozens of local businesses, the house was rebuilt into a safe, welcoming space designed to restore dignity—and hope.
We are proud of the Southwest Riverside County community for coming together so powerfully to create not just a house, but a home. A special thank you to all the organizations, businesses, and individuals who made this vision a reality.
This incredible effort was supported by Third District Community Improvement Designation Funds, a vital grant program that allows us to support various services, projects, and non profits in addressing needs in communities across Riverside County. Click here to learn more about this grant program.
