Dear Third District Resident,
Last month, we had the privilege of welcoming two new members, Christi White and Ruben Quezada, onto the Third District Team.
Christi is a Board Assistant and is responsible for our district three email, correspondence reports, and record retention compliance. She is also our Finance Department liaison for all matters involving the Riverside County Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office, Assessor-County Clerk Recorder’s office, and Auditor Controller’s office. Ruben is a Legislative Intern and is responsible for the Third District Youth Advisory Council (YAC). As the YAC Coordinator, Ruben is the direct connection between the students and my office. He oversees all aspects of their council, plans events, facilitates meetings, recruits’ students, and acts as a mentor.
Welcome to the Third District team, Christi and Ruben, we are elated to have you!

Acacia Ave and Cornell Street Resurfacing Project
The County of Riverside Transportation Department will complete two major resurfacing projects in the community of East Hemet this year. The first will be a 1.6-mile segment of Cornell Street from Crest Drive to Florida Avenue (State Route 74) where roadway resurfacing is needed due to pavement conditions. The second roadway resurfacing project will include a 3.6-mile segment of Acacia Avenue between 200 feet east of San Jacinto and 275-feet east of Jared Lane in the community of East Hemet.
Construction on Cornell Street is set to begin in late Summer 2024. Work will be phased to keep the road open as much as possible during the approximate three months it will take to complete the construction. The construction on Acacia Avenue is set to begin in Fall 2024, and this will also be a phased project to keep the road open as much as possible during the approximate four months it will take to complete this project.
Both resurfacing projects will provide residents with a smooth paved roadway to improve the safety and efficiency of vehicular traffic.

Youth Advisory Council Year End Recognition
The Youth Advisory Council is a youth-led high school leadership council that provides advice, assistance, and recommendations on youth-related issues to the Board of Supervisors.
We recently recognized several students who have served on the Third District Youth Advisory Council this past year at an evening celebration at the French Valley Library. All participating students have expanded their knowledge about County governance, made a valuable impact in the community through volunteerism, and served in a leadership role assisting and advising the Board of Supervisors and County Departments, all while attending high school full time.
We say Congratulations to our Third District Youth Advisory Council for a job well done!
If you are a high school student, or know someone who is interested in joining or want to learn more about the Youth Advisory Council, click here for an application.

Anza Electric Cooperative Quarterly Report
Over the past few months, Anza Electric Cooperative (AEC) hired three local vendors for an easement fuel removal project in Aguanga, Idyllwild, and Anza. The easement clearing included vegetation removal and management near power poles and tree trimming or removal if within the easement. This effort helps reduce fire hazards and improves public safety on over 20 miles of utility easement located on Anza Electric Cooperative’s system, over private property, and within unincorporated county right of way within the Third District.
Thank you, Anza Electric Cooperative, for continuing to make community safety a top priority!
