Dear Third District Resident,
On September 7th, my office held a Public Safety Town Hall in French to discuss traffic and road conditions within the community. We invited the respective public safety agencies, county department personnel, and community organizations to open the conversation, hear out concerns, and find solutions. We look forward to continuing the dialogue at the next town hall, so keep an eye out for the next town hall meeting announcement.
As your County Supervisor, I want to hear from you. My team and I are here to answer your questions, hear your thoughts and work to continue to advocate for the wants and needs of your community. To review the topics discussed, which departments were present at the town hall, and their contact information, click here.
Sincere Regards,

National Preparedness Month 2023:
Preparedness for Earthquakes and more makes for a more resilient Riverside County
September is National Preparedness Month, and the County of Riverside Emergency Management Department is encouraging all residents to take steps to prepare for emergencies, including earthquakes. The Ready Campaign's 2023 National Preparedness Month campaign will focus on preparing older adults for disasters, specifically those from communities that may need additional support. Everyone can benefit from being prepared for emergencies, and earthquake preparedness is especially important in Riverside County. Each resident can play a part in preparing our whole community by helping family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to be ready for emergencies.
Why Earthquake Preparedness is Important
Major earthquakes could come from any of the three major faults here in Riverside County; the San Andreas fault, the Elsinore fault or the San Jacinto fault. Earthquakes can strike without warning and cause significant damage to buildings, roads, and other infrastructure. They can also cause injuries and fatalities. Being prepared for an earthquake can help you and your family stay safe and minimize damage to your property.
Here are some steps you can take to prepare for an earthquake:
-
Create an emergency kit: Your emergency kit should include enough food, water, and supplies to last for at least three days. You should also include a first aid kit, a flashlight, and a battery-powered radio.
-
Make a plan: Create a family emergency plan that includes a meeting place and contact information for family members. Make sure everyone knows what to do in case of an earthquake.
-
Secure your home: Secure heavy furniture and appliances to prevent them from falling during an earthquake. You should also make sure your home is up to code and can withstand seismic activity.
- Older adults should pay extra attention to securing items that might fall in an earthquake and make moving in the home more difficult. Additionally, those taking medications should ensure they have a plan have enough medication to last 3-7 days. Power companies often have programs to assist those with powered medical devices with batter back up equipment.
-
Stay informed: Sign up for the Alert RivCo notification system to receive emergency alerts and warnings. You should also stay informed about earthquake risks and preparedness by following the County of Riverside Emergency Management Department on social media and attending preparedness training and events.

Temecula’s State of the City
Last month, the City of Temecula hosted their annual State of the City, addressed by Mayor Zak Schwank at Pechanga Resort and Casino. While I was away on County business, I was grateful to have my team attend in my absence. Mayor Schwank reflected on Temecula’s accomplishments over the past year as well as the upcoming plans and projections for the years to come. Temecula has proven to be a thriving and vibrant city, and we are proud to have it in the Third District!

MSJC’s New Athletics and Kinesiology Complex
I had the distinguished honor of attending Mt. San Jacinto College’s Athletics and Kinesiology Complex Dedication Ceremony at the Menifee Valley Complex. This complex will bring new recreational facilities including large classrooms, faculty offices, fitness, and weight rooms, along with a football stadium for students and community members alike to enjoy. This is an exciting accomplishment for the City of Menifee, as it serves as a hub for both individuals and families to enjoy together, under the Friday night lights that their new stadium will bring.

Community Spotlight: Winchester
Did you know Winchester was initially considered to be the Riverside County seat? As it is one of Riverside County’s oldest towns, Winchester is enriched with history punctuated by over century old structures including Winchester Elementary, Patterson Museum, and more. The community’s history is rooted in agriculture and farming. It is primarily still an agricultural region with a population of about 2,000 residents, where the common goal of the community is to preserve its history and rural ambience. Winchester also has a Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC) where members advise the county on matters including public health, safety, welfare, public works and planning. They also assist with creative problem solving, with the goal of growing into a model city. It is truly a remarkable and tranquil community, and we are grateful to have it within the Third District.
Join us at their upcoming community fair, “Winchester Days”, on October 7th, 10 AM – 6 PM. More details shared below.
