Museum of Riverside Construction Updates
The Museum of Riverside kicked off the year with a successful hard hat tour that gave guests an early glimpse of the downtown site in its cleared-out state.
Progress continues behind-the-scenes as crews move deeper into the shoring and site‑preparation phase of our rehabilitation project. Demolition is wrapping up, and the groundwork now underway will help set the stage for the future addition that will include the highly anticipated rooftop terrace. |
One of the most striking areas of progress is the wide excavation carved deep into the site, now framed by the first stages of shoring that will support the upcoming addition. Even at this early stage, the scale of the dig is impressive and gives an early sense of the footprint for what will become an essential part of the museum’s new infrastructure.

Another highlight from the demolition phase was the discovery of a bricked‑in opening to a historic steam‑heating system that once served several downtown sites, including the once‑Post‑Office building that now houses the museum. Uncovered after decades out of sight, it offers a small but meaningful reminder of the building’s long history, now emerging again just as preparations are being made for its next chapter. |
Progress appears every day. As shoring advances and preparations continue, anticipation is building for the moment when new construction officially begins, and the museum’s transformation becomes even more exciting to watch unfold.
