Harada House: Progress and What’s Next
2025 has been a year of progress and renewed focus for the Harada House and its future Interpretive Center. After completing a months-long search for a new design team, the Museum of Riverside has been working well with the new team, K+R Design.
K+R Design has a distinguished record of work on historic preservation properties large and small. Together, they’re helping us move forward with a thoughtful rehabilitation plan that honors the home’s story and ensures its long-term preservation.
With architectural work underway again, the next milestone will be receiving updated cost estimates and construction schedules. These will determine the path forward to rehabilitating both Harada House and the salvaged 1880s rooms of the former Robinson House—soon to become part of the Interpretive Center.
We’re also thrilled to announce that Holden Films will soon begin to work with the Museum on a full-length Harada House documentary, supported in part by the Grace Nixon Foundation, Riverside Museum Associates, the Harada House Foundation, and individual donors. This film will help bring the Harada family’s story of resilience and belonging to new audiences.
