Eve Wood’s "Mostly Birds (and a Few Humans)" Exhibition Reception
Riverside Art Museum
Saturday, Nov 2 | 4:00 PM– 6:00 PM
Riverside Art Museum | 3425 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA 92501
The reception for Eve Wood’s exhibition, "Mostly Birds (and a Few Humans)," invites art enthusiasts to explore the poignant works on paper by the Los Angeles artist and poet. Wood's gouache paintings and graphite drawings celebrate the resilience and fragility of both birds and humans, often depicting creatures in peril—a reflection of the artist's own identification with their plight. Birds have been a central theme in Wood’s life, and she hopes her art will inspire young viewers to pay closer attention to the living world around them. In addition to her avian subjects, her compositions feature inventive personifications of vibrant colors, many of which appear in her book, "Remarks on Color," published by DoppelHouse Press in 2023. Curated by Lisa Henry, the exhibition combines dark humor with a sardonic perspective on the complexities of human existence.
