Caregiver to Police Dogs Honored

Local Veterinarian recognized by Riverside Police K-9 Team

RIVERSIDE, CA:  A local veterinarian who has cared for animals for over forty years was honored by Chief Sergio Diaz, Mayor Loveridge and the City Council on February 21, 2012.   Edward Jezbera, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine has been the local veterinarian at Riverside Animal Hospital since 1970 and his devotion and compassion in giving care to all animals have become well-known and respected over the years.

In 1995, the Riverside Police Department Canine Unit started going to Riverside Animal Hospital and immediately recognized the devotion and gallantry shown by Jezbera to give treatment, regular check-ups, vaccinations and emergency care, if a dog is hurt.  “We are grateful for Dr. Jezbera’s professional service, commitment and partnership to care for the health of our four-legged partners,” Chief Diaz said at the ceremony.  “His care and preventative treatment has kept our dogs comfortable and well cared for,” Diaz continued.

Lieutenant Chick Griffitts, The Canine Unit Commander stated, “Jezbera has been devoted to our canine corps and also cares for the police dogs when they retire.  We greatly appreciate him and his staff for their services to care for our beloved police dogs.”  The entire Canine Team attended the ceremony and thanked Jezbera for his professional services and compassion to care for all animals.  The Riverside Police Department Canine Team currently has six police dogs assigned to uniform patrol and two dogs assigned to the Narcotics Unit.
