Chase of Armed Parolee Leads to Officer Involved Shooting

 

Riverside, CA. –

 

On Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at about 3:26 AM, two uniformed Riverside police officers in a marked police unit stopped a vehicle at University and Sedgwick in the City’s Eastside neighborhood. The male passenger fled from the vehicle and ran away. The two officers chased the suspect a short distance from the vehicle and the suspect was taken into custody after an officer involved shooting. The suspect, 25 year old Rudy Ray Casioce, of Riverside, was not struck by the gunfire.

 

Detectives from the Robbery/Homicide Unit and technicians from the Forensic Unit of the Centralized Investigations Bureau responded and are currently investigating this incident. Nobody was injured as a result of the shooting. The investigation revealed the suspect, a parolee, was in possession of a handgun during this incident.

 

Mr. Casioce was arrested for 245(d) (1) P.C. – Assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, 29800(a)(1) P.C. – Felon in possession of a firearm, and 3056 P.C. – Violation of parole. The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be added. He will be booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
