As most of you know, the FRUSTRATING issue of mailbox
break-ins continues throughout our city and especially throughout Ward 4. Our Riverside Police Department is working
hard to address this continuing problem but, as I am sure you will agree, this
is a very difficult issue to stop. Catching
these thieves in the process of breaking into our mailboxes is truly hit and
miss.
I have had the stickers pictured below made in an attempt
to dissuade these criminals from targeting our mailboxes. It is our hope
that when they break into one mailbox that has the red stickers and find it
empty, and then go to a second mailbox that has the red stickers and find that
one also empty then, they might figure out that our residents are now getting
their mail daily and any mailbox with these red stickers on it is no longer a
target.
Linda and I have started walking our neighborhoods and
engaging our citizens to put these stickers on the group mailboxes in front of
their house and then agree to talk to their neighbors asking them to remove
their mail daily. If we have not been in your neighborhood yet and you
want to obtain these notification stickers quickly, please email us and we will
ensure that we get them to you. Neighbors looking out for neighbors can help stop
these criminals from freely rampaging through our neighborhoods and, hopefully,
stop these break-ins.
Thank you and I wish you all the blessings of health and
happiness.
