A Message From Your Council Member… Cardenas Markets for their generous donation of $23,000 to Alvord CARES

I would like to thank Cardenas Markets for their generous donation of $23,000 to Alvord CARES.  Alvord CARES is a program created to help Alvord Unified families and students in need.  AUSD employees make personal donations to this program through payroll deductions. Thanks to Marco Robles from Cardenas, Emilio Ramirez from the City of Riverside, and AUSD Board Member Caroyln Wilson we were able to come together in a great partnership and receive this outstanding donation.

Wells Avenue

Road improvements are near completion on Wells Avenue between Tyler Street and Hole Avenue.  We were successfully able to repave this much needed street.  Thank you to all the residents for your patience all these weeks of construction.  We hope that you will enjoy your beautiful new street. Remember to watch for more street improvements throughout the ward in the next one to two years.

CalPERS Update

Since 1945 when the Riverside voters approved by Special Election, the City of Riverside’s relationship with CalPERS, we have been able to provide a Defined Benefit Plans to our City employees. The City has five CalPERS DBP formulas depending on hire date and employee group. Click here to see how costs are shared between the City and employees.

Baseball Clinic

El Protector’s FREE Baseball Clinic is once again coming to Ward 6.  El Protector is a law enforcement coalition committed to providing assistance and education to the communities they serve. Their focus is to improve community relations and safeguard the community by providing opportunities for children to better themselves and improve their outlook for the future. The El Protector Baseball Clinic includes parent workshops and a baseball clinic for children ages 7 to 14 years old (children must be accompanied by an adult to participate).  The event will take place Saturday, March 24th from 8am-1pm at Bryant Park.
