A Message From Your Council Member…

The City of Riverside invites residents to participate in the development of the next Two-Year Budget.  We will be hosting a Community Budget Workshop for Ward 6 on February 15th at 6pm.  The workshop will be held at the La Sierra Senior Center. Residents may also provide input by attending one of the various public meetings being held by the Budget Engagement Commission or City Council.  In addition, as part of the upcoming budget process for fiscal years 2018-2020, the Finance Department will keep a list of questions asked by the City Council and community on the City’s website at www.RiversideCa.gov/budget.  Visit the site often as we will update this useful tool, each week.

Board and Commissions

We are currently accepting applications from Ward 6 residents who have interest in volunteering to serve on Boards and Commissions that help shape policies and practices at City Hall.  Riverside Board Members and Commissioners offer advice and guidance on important policy decisions for the city which affect daily life in the city. Such issues include General Plan updates, building design, signs, parks, recreation, trees, streets, traffic regulations and public utilities.

Members are asked to serve four-year terms and are eligible for consideration for reappointment for an additional four-year term. Applications are being accepted now for the following openings:

  • Commission on Disabilities
  • Board of Library Trustees
  • Mayor's Commission on Aging
  • Park and Recreation Commission
  • Board of Transportation
  • Planning Commission

Congratulations to Jeanette Hernandez, who is the new Ward 6 representative on the Public Utilities Board.

For more information and/or applications for our Boards and Commissions, visit www.riversideca.gov or visit the City Clerk’s Office on the 7th floor of City Hall, 3900 Main Street, Riverside.

Ward 6 Infrastructure

Street paving is currently taking place on Wells Avenue and within the neighborhoods near La Sierra Avenue and Indiana Avenue. Multiple street maintenance projects will continue throughout the ward within the next 2 years. These projects are primarily funded through Measure Z funds and the California Gas Tax. Additionally, in the near future sidewalks and new streetlights will be installed on Kent, Ivanhoe, sections of Challen between Philbin and Wells plus sections of Babb between Gramercy and Philbin. Also in the coming days a new storm drain will be installed on Cochran between Jones and Skofstad.
