Board and Commissions

We are currently accepting applications from Ward 6 residents who have interest in volunteering to serve on Boards and Commissions that help shape policies and practices at City Hall.  Riverside Board Members and Commissioners offer advice and guidance on important policy decisions for the city which affect daily life in the city. Such issues include General Plan updates, building design, signs, parks, recreation, trees, streets, traffic regulations and public utilities.

Members are asked to serve four-year terms and are eligible for consideration for reappointment for an additional four-year term. Applications are being accepted now for the following openings:

  • Commission on Disabilities
  • Board of Library Trustees
  • Mayor's Commission on Aging
  • Park and Recreation Commission
  • Board of Transportation
  • Planning Commission

For more information and applications for each of the Boards and Commissions, visit www.riversideca.gov or visit the City Clerk’s Office on the 7th floor of City Hall, 3900 Main Street, Riverside.

Citizen’s Academy

The Riverside Police Department is accepting applications for Citizen Academy, which begins Thursday, February 15, 2018 and continues through April 19, 2018.  Recruitment is now open through January 31, 2018.  Most sessions will be held in the Riverside Police Department’s Community Room located at 10540 Magnolia Avenue, Suite B, on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  This course is designed to give citizens an overview of the department's operational methods.  It will also provide insight as to how police personnel perform their duties.  All sessions are in a classroom setting and do not require any physical training. Class size is limited and seats will be given on a first come, first serve basis.  Applicants must be able to pass an informal background check, and must live, work, or attend school in the City of Riverside.  To apply for the Citizen Academy or for more information, please visit www.riversideca.gov/rpd/community/academyapply.asp, or call (951) 826-5704.
