“Maximizing Learning Spaces or How to
MacGyver Your Library” Project at La Sierra Library
On Tuesday,
October 24th City Council approved the recommendation from staff to
approve a grant award in the amount of $5,000 dollars for the “Maximizing
Learning Spaces or How to MacGyver Your Library” project at La Sierra Library.
The Riverside
Public Library submitted an application to the California State Library to
participate in “Maximizing Learning Spaces or How to MacGyver Your Library”
project; a project in which seeks to enhance children and teen spaces at
libraries. On August 31st, the Riverside Public Library was selected
to participate in the project and as a result, La Sierra Library will benefit
from the expertise of a professional design consultant that will develop a plan
to better utilize the children and teen spaces. In addition, the library will
receive $5,000 dollars towards the purchase of moveable furniture that will
support and enhance the new designs.
Thank you to staff
for bringing the item forward and for supporting the efforts of providing a
learning center for library patrons.

Love Riverside Serve Day
On Saturday, October 22nd, my office had the pleasure of participating for the second year in a row in the Love Riverside Serve Day!
The morning consisted of a kick-off rally at Sherman Indian High School where approximately 500 volunteers gathered and rallied off to their designated project site. My office had the opportunity to partner once again with Meridian Gardens of Riverside for a morning of arts and crafts. Thank you to all of the volunteers and organizers who assisted in making this a wonderful event. I appreciate the efforts and dedication of all team members and participants.
