Reminder Fireworks are Illegal

ILLEGAL FIREWORKS USE CAN BE REPORTED THROUGH THE 311 CALL CENTER

All fireworks are illegal in the City of Riverside. The manufacturing, possession, storage, use or handling of fireworks is prohibited in the City of Riverside under Section 16.32.375 of the Riverside Municipal Code (RMC).

The Riverside Fire Department and Riverside Police Departments are encouraging the community to call 911 for fireworks related emergencies that have caused or may cause an immediate threat to life or property. In an effort to minimize “non-emergency” firework related calls to our 911 emergency communications center, we are encouraging everyone to use 311 to report fireworks related activity, which appear to be less of an immediate threat to the community.

Apron/ Runway Rehab Project Update

KRAL has completed the bidding and awarding phase of a 600,000 sq. ft. apron rehabilitation project. Maxwell Asphalt, Inc. will be heading up the construction which is anticipated to start this Fall 2017. This project will go to City Council July 25th. The project will consist of rehabilitating the ramp surface in front of the terminal building, the helipad area and the area south of the Brown hangars. To ensure minimal disruption, Airport Operations will provide all tenants with a construction schedule. We also want to thank all tenants for their patience during the rehabilitation project.

City One Stop Shop

New space, same smiles! The City of Riverside has upped its commitment to customer service even further by creating a “One Stop Shop” that brings together on one floor all City departments that are part of the development process, with exclusive use of an express elevator, cell phone charging stations and a concierge-type system that helps customers obtain permits and approvals faster than ever. The business-friendly change means that people who want to invest in Riverside are welcomed as they come off an elevator that operates only between the City Hall lobby and the third floor, where the One Stop Shop is located. Customers are assisted through a series of work stations staffed by experts from several city departments, including planning, building, fire, utilities, business license and public works. Runway incursions remain a serious concern nationally. One important component of our ongoing efforts to improve surface safety at RAL Airport involves conducting a Runway Safety Action Team (RSAT) meeting at least once each year. The purpose of this RSAT meeting is to unite those individuals and organizations that are actively involved in air traffic operations and movement of aircraft, vehicles and equipment on the Airport Operations Area (AOA).

We look for participation from all major airport interests including tenants, fixed base operators, airport operations and maintenance personnel. Participants are asked to help develop recommendations and solutions to enhance surface safety. Those recommendations serve as the foundation for a site-specific Runway Safety Action Plan.

Reminder:

The FAA policy on the Non-Aeronautical Use of Airport Hangars is effective July 1, 2017.The Riverside Municipal Airport has a statutory obligation to assure hangars on airport property are actually used for the intended purpose, to store aircraft. Beginning July 1, 2017, the airport will implement a hangar inspection program. Tenants will be notified no later than (3) business days before a scheduled inspection.

We appreciate that all airport tenants value the Riverside Municipal Airport and overall use the airport facilities for aeronautical use.

Additional waste bins are available to assist tenants with any extra needs.
