SUBJECT: Removal of Asbestos-Containing Material in Building M101

                   (Terminal 1)

DATE:    January 23, 2015   

    

 

Scope of Work:

 

This project involves removing asbestos-containing material from the underside of the barrel vaults on the curbside area of M-101. The scope of work includes: isolating the work area; installing engineering controls (including containment); removing asbestos containing construction materials; and cleaning the work area. A maximum of three (3) bays will be isolated at a time, beginning on the east side of the building in front of baggage claim and moving toward the west side of the building in front of ticketing. The two main entrance bays to Terminal 1 will remain open at all times.

 

Following the work, a certified abatement consultant (SCA Environmental), will perform a site clearance to ensure it is ready for reoccupancy.

 

Construction Duration and Planned Schedule:

 

Duration:                          Sunday, January 25 – Thursday, February 12, 2015

Work Day(s):                   Fifteen (15)

Work hours:                    2200 to 0500 hours

 

Vehicles:

 

Construction vehicles will display the appropriate placards. Vehicles will be parked along the curbside in front of Building M-101.

 

Vehicles will at all times comply with Oakland International Airport, Airport Operations Area (AOA) Vehicle Safety Rules 406.2.

 

Personnel Identification:

 

SCA Environmental (consultant) and Sterling Environmental (asbestos abatement contractor) will have valid identification on their person at all times while in the work area.

 

Special Instructions and/or restrictions:

 

A certified abatement consultant (SCA Environmental) will be present at the work site at all times that work is in progress to ensure the work is in compliance with all local, state, and federal asbestos regulations.
