OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CELEBRATES LAUNCH OF NONSTOPS TO THE NEIGHBOR ISLANDS BY HAWAIIAN AIRLINES
New Widebody Service to Kona and Lihue Begins with Free Parking Offer
Oakland, California (June 14, 2014) – This morning amid fresh flower leis, live Hawaiian music and hula, Hawaiian Airlines commenced new annual summer service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Hawaiian will serve Kona four times a week. They will also commence service between OAK and Lihue on the “Garden Isle” of Kauai three times a week starting June 15. The addition of these new seasonal routes, provides Hawaiian Airlines award winning service from San Francisco Bay Area to all four main Hawaiian islands (Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island) only from OAK.
“The additional flights to Kona and Lihue come just in time for the peak summer travel season and they combine Hawaiian Airlines award winning onboard service with the convenience and reliability of OAK in the San Francisco Bay Area,” said Deborah Ale Flint, Port of Oakland Director of Aviation. “Travelers will experience our shared commitment to customer service excellence with the Aloha Spirit on these flights from OAK.”
“We want to give travelers in the greater Bay Area even more reason to start dreaming about getting away to our beautiful islands and all there is to enjoy,” said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian Airlines executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “We are also pleased to support Kauai and Hawaii Island’s visitor industries during peak summer season and also offer our island residents convenient, direct service to the Bay Area.”
“Hawaiian Airlines’ new annual summer service between Oakland and both Kona and Lihue, coupled with increased daily service to Honolulu and continued daily service to Kahului, will provide visitors from the greater Bay Area the opportunity to visit all of the main Hawaiian Islands,” said David Uchiyama, Vice President - Brand Management, for the Hawaii Tourism Authority. "The Port of Oakland has been working really hard to help us to connect Northern California to Hawaii and these increases in service will add a significant number of seats from this important market."
Park Free
As a value-added option for Bay Area travelers, OAK is offering passengers flying nonstop to Hawaii (and Europe) up to five days of free parking in the Airport’s Daily Lot May 1-July 31, 2014 - a $110 value.
To take advantage of this promotion, travelers must visit oaklandairport.com/parkfree to register and download a printable coupon. Customers should take a ticket when entering the Daily Lot, rather than insert a credit/debit card, and be sure to bring both the printed Park Free coupon and a printed copy of their qualifying round-trip flight itinerary to present these to a cashier when exiting the Daily Lot upon their return.
Guests traveling on Hawaiian Airlines’ new seasonal routes will enjoy its:
- Wide-body, twin-aisle 264-seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with a comfortable and roomy interior
- Complimentary meals in Economy Class featuring island-inspired cuisine designed by Hawaii celebrity chef Chai Chaowasaree. Hawaiian Airlines is the only carrier serving Hawaii to offer complimentary meals in Economy Class at meal time
