April 2026
Greetings,
I recently had the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC to participate in the 54th Annual Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Cap-to-Cap advocacy event. I participated on the Wildfire and Forest Health team as well as the Placer County specific advocacy team. As a member of the Wildfire and Forest Health team, I had to opportunity to meet with Representative Young Kim’s office, as well as our current Congressman, Kevin Kiley. I also attended meetings with majority and minority staff members from the House Committee on Natural Resources – Subcommittee on Federal Lands; the Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources – Subcommittee on Public Lands, Forests & Mining; as well as Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works – Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife & Water Management. Placer County specific advocacy meetings included appointments with Congressman Ami Bera, Congressman Kevin Kiley, Congressman Mike Thompson and US Senator Adam Schiff. We advocated for funding for transportation and infrastructure projects, as well as funding for some law enforcement priorities such as the forensic science/crime lab that is in the design phase.
I would be remiss if I did not thank the Placer County Air Pollution Control District as they sponsored my attendance for the trip. We had some great meetings, and I am hopeful that we will be successful in attaining funding.
As always, I encourage you to contact my office with any questions or concerns you may have. You may do so by calling 530-889-4081 or via email at crivera@placer.ca.gov.
