WATCH (8 mins): What you can do to be ready for wildfire - Supervisor Gore's converstation with PCFD Chief Brian Estes

Bonnie Gore with Fire Chief Estes

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, I want to offer an important reminder: fireworks of any kind—including "safe and sane"—are strictly prohibited in all unincorporated areas of Placer County. This includes our communities of Dry Creek, Placer Vineyards, and all Tahoe communities within Placer County.

If you’re planning to head to Lake Tahoe this weekend, please be aware that you’ll be entering a region of extreme wildfire risk. Every spark matters—and in high fire-danger areas like Tahoe or the wildland-urban interface, fireworks can quickly become catastrophic.

Each of us has a role to play in reducing wildfire risk. Choosing not to use fireworks in prohibited areas isn’t just about following the law—it’s about protecting lives, homes, and the environment we all treasure.

To better understand how to prepare your home and family in the event of wildfire, I invite you to watch my recent conversation with Placer County Fire Chief Brian Estes. He outlines what PCFD does to reduce fire risk, what is the "wildland urban interface" and what you can do to prepare your family and home in case of a wildfire.

A reminder: while "safe and sane" fireworks are allowed within the City of Roseville, please note that penalties for illegal fireworks have increased. Wherever you celebrate, let’s do it responsibly and with full awareness of our surroundings.

Independence Day 2024

As we honor the birth of our nation, I hope you and your loved ones enjoy a joyful and safe Independence Day. This day reminds us of the extraordinary courage and sacrifice that laid the foundation for our freedoms. The Declaration of Independence remains not just a historical document, but a call to action—to strive continuously toward liberty and justice for all.

Warm regards,
Bonnie

What is a MAC?

The Municipal Advisory Council may advise the Board of Supervisors on matters that relate to the area served by the Municipal Advisory Council (MAC). The Council shall advise the Board of Supervisors on matters specifically referred to it by the Board of Supervisors for review and recommendation.

Municipal Advisory Councils (MACs) are groups of residents from the local community who advise the Board of Supervisors on concerns. They are open forums where information about land use, transportation and general county information is shared and discussed. Residents can attend these meetings in their own community and talk about issues that are important to them.

Visit Placer.CA.Gov/WPMAC for more information, agendas and minutes from the West Placer MAC
