Sheriff Wayne Woo, in partnership with all law enforcement agencies across Placer County, is proud to announce the official launch of the Blue Envelope Program, a countywide initiative designed to foster safer, more compassionate interactions between law enforcement and members of the neurodiverse community, including individuals with autism and other cognitive or developmental conditions.
The program provides individuals with a visible tool such as a blue envelope, lanyard, wristband, or seat belt cover which are designed to alert responding deputies and officers that the person may require additional patience, support, or understanding during a law enforcement interaction.
The program is voluntary and does not involve any kind of registration or tracking. Individuals can choose to carry or display items with the Blue Envelope logo at their discretion.
For more information about the Blue Envelope Program, and to find out where you can pick up Blue Envelope materials, please visit: placer.ca.gov/BlueEnvelope
