April 2025
Our County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) repairs and maintains over 1,000 centerline miles of roadways within unincorporated Placer County, from Pleasant Grove in Western Placer County to Lake Tahoe. They often are required to work hand in hand with other agencies such as Caltrans to do some of these repairs. I am happy to report and would like to thank our DPW staff for working with Caltrans to address a pavement issue at the 193/80 Ophir exit. The intersection is scheduled to be closed Thursday, April 10 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. As a result, the WB 80 off-ramp to 193 will be closed and the EB 80 off-ramp to 193 will have limited access for drivers to access Hillview Rd or enter back onto the highway. Several detours are anticipated. Trucks entering and exiting from 193/80 will be detoured via Sierra College Blvd. Passenger vehicles can access via Old State Hwy/Newcastle Rd. Since vehicles will not be able to come down Ophir Rd WB, they will have to go east and utilize the EB I-80 on-ramp, turning around from there if needed. While this closure may cause some inconvenience, this is maintenance that is necessary and will help preserve and extend the life of the roadway.
As always, your input and communication are vital to me. Representing the residents of my district effectively requires hearing directly from you. As such, I invite you to reach out at 530-889-4010 to share your thoughts or concerns.
