Watch (Beginning at 05:50): WPWMA Votes on Sale of Land for Public Safety Training Center

Public Safety Training Center

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As a member of the Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA), I recently had the opportunity to vote in favor of an important decision that will benefit our entire community. Sierra College has reached an agreement to acquire a 50-acre site from WPWMA to build a new Regional Public Safety Training Center right here in Western Placer County.

This facility is going to be a game-changer. It will feature all kinds of real-world training spaces like a driving course, shooting ranges, tactical villages, and indoor classrooms. The center will be used by both students preparing for careers in public safety and by our local fire and police agencies, helping them stay up to date with ongoing training requirements.

It has been incredible to see how this project has come together. It is a testament to the collaborative spirit of our local jurisdictions and public safety leaders. With the growing need for highly skilled first responders in our region, this center will give our agencies the tools they need to stay sharp and ready for any situation. It will also reduce the need to send personnel out of the area for training, which is a huge cost-saver to taxpayers.

I am proud to have supported this purchase, and I truly believe it is a step in the right direction for both our local workforce and the safety of our communities. The land is just the beginning—there is still plenty of work ahead, but I’m excited for what this facility will bring.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Warm regards,
Bonnie

The Municipal Advisory Council may advise the Board of Supervisors on matters that relate to the area served by the Municipal Advisory Council (MAC). The Council shall advise the Board of Supervisors on matters specifically referred to it by the Board of Supervisors for review and recommendation.

Municipal Advisory Councils (MACs) are groups of residents from the local community who advise the Board of Supervisors on concerns. They are open forums where information about land use, transportation and general county information is shared and discussed. Residents can attend these meetings in their own community and talk about issues that are important to them.
