As we move into this New Year, and I begin my first term as your 3rd District County Supervisor, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, but first I would like to thank Jim Holmes for his 20 years of service to our County. I would not be here without his support and encouragement and for that, I am forever grateful.
I have been a proud resident of Placer County since 1996. My family and I own and operate Highland Orchard, a mandarin ranch in Penryn, where we grow mandarins and other produce while also crafting value-added products. While we’ve managed the ranch since 2017, my family’s roots in California farming stretch back over a century. As a longtime business owner, I deeply understand the importance of maintaining a balanced budget and following through on commitments. I also know the challenges and rewards that come with managing every aspect of a business.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, which, combined with hands-on farming experience, has helped me navigate our business through significant challenges, including catastrophic floods in 1997 and recent economic hardships. Remaining stable during these events allowed me to support others in our community. During the pandemic and wildfires, I was proud to deliver fresh fruit and produce to businesses and organizations helping those affected by the crises. Providing healthy food for people is one of the most fulfilling aspects of what I do.
Prior to being elected as your County Supervisor, I proudly served on the Placer County Planning Commission, a role that reflects my dedication to public service and my passion for contributing to our community. I believe we are all called to serve in different ways, and I am privileged to serve as your District 3 Supervisor. My goal is to ensure that Placer County remains a wonderful place to live, work, and raise families.
I feel a strong connection to both the rural community and the city I call home. The deep roots in this area inspire me to work toward uniting residents, businesses, the agricultural community, investors, and local government to build a stronger and more successful Placer County.
Your input and communication are vital to me. Representing the residents of my district effectively requires hearing directly from you. As such, I invite you to reach out at 530-889-4010 to share your thoughts or concerns.
