The People are the Key to Placer's Greatness!
 December 2024
|
|
Hi Friends and Neighbors,
As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the past 12 months as the Board Chair. It’s truly been an honor to serve in this role. I’m so grateful for the milestones we've achieved, lessons I’ve learned, and the meaningful conversations I’ve had with so many of you about ways to improve our community.
Over the year, I’ve done my best to speak up for all residents and lead with fairness, firmness, and a friendly approach. Your voices and perspectives have helped guide me every step of the way, and for that, I’m deeply thankful.
With the holiday season upon us, I encourage everyone to take some time to give back to our community. Supporting local non-profits is a wonderful way to make a difference. Shopping local is another great option—our small businesses are the heart of our economy. If you’re looking for ideas, check out resources like Shop Placer or explore organizations like Feeding the Foothills, Placer Justice Foundation, and more. The Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce also has great listings to help you support local businesses and causes.
Don’t forget to care for yourself, too! The holiday season is often seen as a time of joy and celebration, but it can also bring stress, fatigue, and emotional challenges. Between family obligations, financial pressures, and the hustle of end-of-year demands, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s why prioritizing your mental health during this time is so important. Enjoy the natural beauty of our area by taking a winter walk on one of our many trails—whether it’s the stretch from Rattlesnake Bar to Folsom Lake or the paths through Royer Park and Downtown Roseville, a quiet afternoon in the sun will benefit your health.
A quick update: our December Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) meeting has been canceled, as there are no items to address. The Board of Supervisors will still have a packed schedule this month, with meetings every week leading up to the holiday office closure. Be sure to save the date for our next MAC meeting on Thursday, February 6th, when we’ll have plenty of updates and agenda items to share.
As we wrap up 2024, I want to say thank you for your continued trust and engagement. It’s been an incredible year, and I’m so proud to serve our community. Wishing you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and joyful holiday season!
Warmly, Supervisor Jones

Nugget Markets Coming to District 4
Exciting news for Granite Bay residents: Nugget Markets is set to open a new store in the area, with a grand opening planned for late summer 2025. The store will anchor the shopping center at the corner of Douglas Boulevard and Sierra College Boulevard, marking the family-owned company’s 18th location.
“In partnership with Engstrom Properties Development Group, we are planning a complete makeover of the shopping center,” said Eric Stille, Nugget Market chairman and growth officer. “Our goal is for it to become the gathering place or ‘town center’ of the Granite Bay neighborhood.”
This will be Nugget’s second upcoming location in Placer County, with another store in Rocklin set to open in fall 2025. These stores will be the retailer’s third and fourth locations in the county, further expanding its footprint.
“We’ve wanted to be part of this community for many years,” said Greg Hill, CEO of Nugget Market. “We’re excited to develop long-term relationships with our Granite Bay guests and provide the exceptional quality and service Nugget Market is known for.”
Founded in 1926 and headquartered in Davis, California, Nugget Markets is a family-owned, full-line grocery store offering high-quality perishables, organic goods, chef-prepared foods, specialty items, and conventional groceries. The company was recently named one of Progressive Grocer’s Outstanding Independents for 2024.
District 4 residents can look forward to not just a new grocery store but a revitalized shopping center and vibrant community hub.
