Watch (5 Min): Feeding the Foothills (Formerly Placer Food Bank) serves millions of pounds of food for people in need - ABC 10

Feeding-the-Foothills_Thumb

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

As we gather in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to share some meaningful ways to give back to our community this holiday season.

Feeding the Foothills, formerly known as Placer Food Bank, continues to serve as the heart of hunger relief in El Dorado, Nevada, and Placer counties. Their team is dedicated to providing access to healthy food for individuals and families impacted by a wide range of life challenges. In partnership with Feeding America since 1990, they work tirelessly to transform lives, one meal at a time. This work would not be possible without the generosity of their volunteers, donors, and staff, who make such a profound difference in the lives of so many.

In the spirit of giving, The Goularte Group is helping organize a holiday gift drive for foster children and other children served by Placer County Human Services. Each year, children are asked to write down their Christmas wishes, and this drive provides an opportunity for the community to fulfill those wishes. You can visit the website to select a child and sign up to purchase a gift. A holiday event will be held on December 7th at the Loomis Train Depot to collect unwrapped gifts and celebrate the season. To get involved, visit www.holidaymiracleprogram.com or reach out to info@thegoulartegroup.com.

Human Services is also hosting a warm clothing drive for those in need from November 25th to December 16th. Donations of new or gently used winter clothing can be dropped off at locations in Auburn and Rocklin, including the Community Development Resource Center and Health and Human Services building in Auburn, as well as the Rocklin County Building.

Animal-Services-Dog

Additionally, Placer County Animal Services is in need of donations for pets. Clean towels, blankets, toys, and treats for dogs, cats, bunnies, and other animals are greatly appreciated. Monetary donations and pet wish lists are available on their website, and all donations help provide a better life for animals in need.

Shop Placer

Finally, let’s support the local businesses that make Placer County so special. Many of our community’s businesses are family-owned and provide a wealth of unique products and experiences. Whether you're looking for one-of-a-kind gifts, local wines and handcrafted goods, or a memorable outing to one of our area’s restaurants or wineries, shopping local this holiday season is a great way to show love for the place we call home. Use the hashtag #ShopPlacer to see how others are supporting our local businesses.

With gratitude,
Bonnie
