DISTRICT 5 NEWSLETTER | DEC. 2

SEASON'S GREETINGS!

Cindy

As the year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible gratitude I have for living in and representing such wonderful people, communities and local businesses.  I hope you all enjoyed a Happy Thanksgiving, filled with gratitude and cherished moments with loved ones.

Now, as we enter the season of giving and celebration, it’s a wonderful time to support the organizations, and businesses that make Placer County such a special place to live. Shopping local not only strengthens our local economy but also supports our neighbors and friends who pour their hearts into their work.

This is also the perfect time to consider your year-end giving. Our local nonprofits do extraordinary work to uplift our communities, often with limited resources. From feeding families, protecting wildlife and open spaces, to providing youth programs and supporting seniors, these organizations rely on the generosity of people like you.

If you’re looking for ways to give back this season, I encourage you to think about the causes that matter most to you. Whether it’s a donation, volunteering your time, or spreading awareness, your contributions make a lasting difference.

Below is a list of just a few remarkable nonprofits in our county that would greatly benefit from your support:

Acres of Hope
• Auburn Interfaith Food Closet
• Auburn State Theater
• Auburn Symphony
• Boys & Girls Club of Placer County
Feeding the Foothills
• Gold Country Wildlife Rescue
Placer Community Foundation
• Placer Land Trust
• Pride Industries
• Salvation Army
• Seniors First
• Stand Up Placer
• The Gathering Inn

Thank you for making Placer County a place of hope, generosity, and kindness. Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a bright start to the new year!

In Grateful Service,
Supervisor Cindy Gustafson

PLACER COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS EXPANDS HIDDEN FALLS REGIONAL PARK WITH BIG HILL PRESERVE

Hidden Falls

The long-awaited Hidden Falls Regional Park Expansion Project moved closer to reality  with the Placer County Board of Supervisors taking action to ensure the expansion is well managed for users and neighbors when opened to the public in 2025. A highlight was a resolution renaming the Twilight Ride parking area and adjacent trails as Big Hill Preserve, Hidden Falls Regional Park. This addition to the park includes roughly 600 acres of new open space with 10 miles of new trails. Adding the preserve to Hidden Falls Regional Park will put the area under the county’s public safety ordinances such as smoking and fire prohibitions, and increase access to wildfire prevention programs. Hidden Falls Regional Park Expansion Project Phase 2 is expected to open to the public in the second half of 2025. LEARN MORE
