BOARD TO REVIEW THE VILLAGE AT PALISADES TAHOE PLAN

Cindy

Next Tuesday, November 19, the Board of Supervisors will meet at the North Tahoe Event Center to conduct a public hearing to review the proposed actions for the Village at Palisades Tahoe Specific Plan.

This is the most significant decision that has come forward during my tenure on the Board of Supervisors. This proposed plan, which outlines potential updates to the resort base area and surrounding lands, has received enormous public feedback over the past months. County staff has worked diligently to address the many questions and concerns that community members have raised, and their efforts will be presented for the Board's consideration. The project was heard by the Olympic Valley MAC and the North Tahoe RAC back in August where it was opposed by the Olympic Valley MAC and many concerns raised by the North Tahoe RAC. It was then heard by the Planning Commission on September 5, where it received a 6-1 vote in favor of recommending approval.

Over the past several months, I have met with many community members, both proponents and opponents, to ensure that all concerns are understood and that the staff and applicants have addressed these important issues.  In my role as a decision-maker, I am committed to maintaining objectivity and transparency throughout this process, ensuring that every decision is reviewed fairly and objectively and that I consider all the public comments received up to and at the final meeting.

I invite you to join the Board meeting to learn more about the Village Specific Plan and hear directly from county staff, environmental consultants and the applicant.  This is an excellent opportunity to engage with the information firsthand and to contribute to this project’s progress in an informed way.

For more information, please review the links to the Environmental Impact Report, updated board packet, and video recording from the September hearing which addresses many of the public comments and concerns. I strongly encourage anyone interested to participate in this process, whether by attending the meeting in person, on Zoom, or submitting public comments in advance. To submit a public comment, you may email the Clerk of the Board at BoardClerk@placer.ca.gov or mail comments to:

Attn: Clerk of the Board

As always, please reach out to our office with any questions or to provide your comments. Thank you for your engagement in this very important community process.

In Service,
Supervisor Cindy Gustafson

PARKING RESTRICTIONS EAST OF EMIGRANT GAP ARE IN EFFECT

no parking sign

Placer County officials are reminding residents and visitors that annual winter parking restrictions in the county’s higher elevations are now in effect, running from Nov. 1 until May 1, 2025. Parking along county-maintained roadways east of Emigrant Gap (i.e., North Lake Tahoe, Serene Lakes, Olympic Valley, and Alpine Meadows) will be prohibited during this time to allow for snow removal operations. Compliance will help avoid damage to parked vehicles as well as snow removal equipment and, most importantly, prevent delays to snow removal operations.
