CALTRANS TRAFFIC UPDATE
State Route 28 Project Updates for This Week in North Lake Tahoe
Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project and gas-line replacement work continuing along State Route 28 (SR-28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe this week.
The broadband project is a part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
One-way traffic control is scheduled along SR-28 between the Tahoe State Park entrance and the State Route 89 intersection:
• Monday, August 5 from 6 p.m. until Tuesday, August 6 at 7 a.m. • Tuesday, August 6 from 6 p.m. until Wednesday, August 7 at 7 a.m. • Wednesday, August 7 from 6 p.m. until Thursday, August 8 at 7 a.m.
Utility work is scheduled along the eastbound shoulder of SR-28 at the following locations and times:
• Between Jackpine St & Lake Forest Rd West: Monday, August 5 between 5 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• Between Sierra Terrace Rd & Dollar Dr: Tuesday, August 6 between 5 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• Between Rocky Ridge Rd & Chinquapin Dr: Wednesday, August 7 from 5 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Utility work is scheduled along the shoulders of both directions of SR-28 at the following locations and times:
• Between Jackpine St & Star Harbor Ct: Monday, August 5 from 8 p.m. until Tuesday, August 6 at 8 a.m.
• Between Center St & Sahara Dr: Monday, August 5 between 5 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• One-way traffic control Between Tahoe State Park entrance & Star Harbor Ct: Tuesday, August 6 from 8 p.m. until Wednesday, August 7 at 8 a.m.
• Between Sahara Dr & Stag Dr: Tuesday, August 6 between 5 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• One-way traffic control Between Rocky Ridge Rd & Burton Creek Dr: Wednesday, August 7 from 8 p.m. until Thursday, August 8 at 8 a.m.
• Between Stag Dr & Estates Dr: Wednesday, August 7 from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m.
• Between Estates Dr & Pino Grande Ave: Wednesday, August 7 from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m.
In addition, Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, continue work on a gas-line replacement project on SR-28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach. One-way traffic control is scheduled during the evening/overnight hours at the following locations starting Sunday, August 4 at 7 p.m. until Friday, August 9 at 5 a.m.
• Between Onyx St & Center St in Carnelian Bay • At Sahara Dr in Carnelian Bay • West Agatam Ave & National Ave in Tahoe Vista • East Agatam Ave & Pino Grande Ave in Tahoe Vista
Motorists could encounter total delays of up to one hour.
All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment or material availability or other unexpected events.
