Public Safety Spotlight
PCSO Opioid Response Team Featured on NBC Nightly News
From PCSO: Sheriff Woo, with the support of the Placer County Board of Supervisors and the CEO’s office, launched an initiative to combat opioid related overdoses as well as providing specialized detectives focused on opioid related crimes. He formed one of the first teams with this focus in the state. Detective Craven is the lead detective of the Opioid Response team. We’re proud that his expertise and our efforts are setting a precedent for the rest of the country, as shown on NBC Nightly News.
The Opioid Response Team will respond to all fentanyl-related deaths within the Placer County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction. The team will investigate where that person got the fentanyl. That evidence is crucial in the prosecution of drug dealers. We’ll also provide support for allied agencies upon request. In addition, the team will take proactive action by connecting with youth, at-risk individuals and those who suffer from addiction.
