UPCOMING IMPORTANT MEETINGS & EVENTS

Honoring Presidents Day -  As we reflect on this week's holiday honoring our Presidents – may their spirit of leadership and service inspire us to make a positive difference in our communities!

The following are a few quotes of inspiration from those leaders

“The harder the conflict, the greater the triumph.”
-George Washington

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
-Theodore Roosevelt

“One person can make a difference, and everyone should try.”
-John F. Kennedy

“Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, leave the rest to God.”
- Ronald Regan

The Stifel World Cup - This coming weekend the men’s World Cup tour returns to Palisades for Men’s GS and slalom races.  The Know Before You Go guide is helpful for those attending and not attending the events so that you can plan around the many activities over the coming weekend.  The Placer County OES, Sheriff and allied agencies have been preparing for security and emergencies that can occur with a large event in the region.  The members of the Board each received briefings on the extent of preparations that go into hosting a world-wide event.

Placer County Board of Supervisors – The Board of Supervisors will be holding our quarterly meeting in Tahoe on February 27. As always, I encourage the community to attend and participate.  Topics on the agenda include: Short Term Rental Ordinance Changes; SNOW Museum EIR; Lake Tahoe Destination Stewardship Plan; and Eastern Placer County Fire Services Ad Hoc Committee Report.

TRPA Governing Board Meeting – The TRPA Governing Board will be considering the Placer County Basin Area Plan Amendments on Wednesday February 28.  The amendments were greatly reduced in response to public input.  The Board will be considering the amendments and the public input during the meeting.  To be clear, while a lawsuit has been filed challenging the Board of Supervisors’ approval of the TBAP amendments, nothing in that lawsuit prevents the County from moving forward to the TRPA Governing Board for its consideration of the amendments.  Based on our review, it made logical sense to complete the plan amendment process now instead of waiting 1-2 years for a trial court to render a decision in the litigation.

Please let us know if you have questions or comments on the upcoming meetings and events.

In Service,
Supervisor Cindy Gustafson
